Description **Analytical Chemist, Camarillo, CA**

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Develop and maintain an analytical chemistry laboratory for extractables and leachables per BPOG / ASTM / USP guidelines.
+ Building an extractable library for filter and SUS components.
+ Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis:

+ Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS)

+ Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-MS)

+ Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR)

+ Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) - We hope to add this instrument in the near future.

+ Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (Graphite Furnace)

+ High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

+ Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)

+ Environmental chamber
+ Identification of extractables
+ Method development including sample preparation / preservation, dilution / concentration, solvent extraction, and separations.
+ Instrumentation calibration, validation, including determination of LOD / LOQ, and maintenance.
+ SOP creation and maintenance.
+ Report writing.
+ Maintenance and purchase of Lab chemicals and equipment.
+ Assist in metrology program.
+ Support customer audits.
+ Maintain production, test records, and laboratory notebooks.
+ Present information and respond to technical questions from clients and customers.
+ Create and maintain customer service files.
+ Develop and maintain knowledge base through participation in professional organizations such as
+ PDA, ISPE, ASTM or others as appropriate. This may involve active participation, for example, in Task Forces as a Speaker, or as a Reviewer. It may involve more passive participation in forums such as PDAs PharmSciTech, ISPEs Communities of Practice or PMF forums.
+ Other duties may be assigned.
**Job Requirements:**

+ Bachelor's degree (BS) in analytical chemistry or related subject
+ Five (5) to seven (7) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Analytical instrumentaion experience (HPLC, LC, GCMS, ICP, FTIR, AA, DSC)
+ Must be able to write and develop SOP's
+ Instrumentation calibration, validation, and maintenance (determination of LOD / LOQ)
+ Assist in metrology program and customer audits
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and related legislation
+ (CFR and EU). Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and customers. Presentation skills are very helpful
+ Computer skills are required including the use of word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation and search engine software. Familiarity with instrument software such as Chromeleon (GC-MS) and Qtegra (ICP-MS) would be useful.
