Kelly Science & Clinical is partnering with a pharmaceutical/biotech company in the Cleveland Ohio area.

Entry level Analytical Chemist to work in a GMP environment
**Basic Purpose:**
The Analytical Chemist is responsible for the execution of wet chemistry techniques during testing of materials, finished product, and stability.
This testing includes, for example, pH, titrations, determination of physical appearance, UV, and other wet chemistry techniques.
Use of analytical instrumentation, such as HPLC will be introduced. Assignment of such testing will be determined by the Senior Scientist.
The Scientist works in the laboratories in a safe and effective manner
**Day to Day Responsibilities:**
1. Analytical testing of materials, finished product, and stability. This testing
will primarily consist of wet chemistry techniques.
2. Determination of the appropriate specifications and methods used for testing.
3. Clear documentation of test activities in approved worksheets and laboratory
notebooks.
4. Execution of mathematical calculations as outlined in test methods.
5. Assess data to determine if the material tested meets specifications.
6. Limited peer review of data.
7. Use of analytical instrumentation at the discretion of the supervisor.
8. Participates in the Quality Improvement Process
9. May be assigned to general lab duties
1. Testing is done on time and right the first time.
2. The correct specification and methods are used for analysis (right first time).
3. The documentation is legible and requires little interpretation during peer review
4. Results are calculated correctly (right first time).
5. Out of specification data is immediately brought to the attention of the supervisor
6. Mistakes are found and corrected before data is reported.
7. Shows ability to operate analytical instrumentation as determined by the
supervisor.
8. Membership on quality work group teams.
9. Duties are performed within the parameters defined by the supervisor
**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED**
1. Requires a four-year degree in chemistry or a closely related science
