Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to be hiring an **_Analytical Chemist (LC-MS)_** for a contract testing lab in Portland, OR! The **_Analytical Chemist_** provides high quality analytical testing services for clients by maintaining continuous sample flow, adhering to high quality standards, participating in R&D, and proposing better efficiency and services to achieve the Companys mission and objectives.

Work Schedule: Full Time (40 hours a week), Flexible hours between 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday - Friday


+ Performs all accountabilities assigned by the Group Leader, which includes but is not limited to routine extractions and/or sample analysis for assigned tests using LC-MS/MS and traditional LC detectors. Analyzes, interprets, and reports laboratory results, including QA/QC data, using analytical instrumentation software and other programs including LIMS, IQC Excel spreadsheet, etc.

+ Ensures that samples are extracted and analyzed in accordance with registered and/or in-house validated methods. Activities are scheduled to provide an accurate and timely service to support business requirements. Additionally, ensures that reference materials and working standards are maintained and documented according to relevant SOPs.

+ Compiles and maintains Internal Quality Control data for analytes tested, performs periodic assessments of recovery trends. Determines cases where QC or analytical data does not meet acceptable criteria and consults with Group Leader or supervising chemist to determine course of action.

+ Performs routine maintenance and verification or calibration of analytical instrumentation and other laboratory equipment. Indicates when maintenance has been performed in logbooks as needed. Troubleshoots problems and performs minor repairs, contacts equipment vendors, and informs department supervisor when an external repair is needed.

+ Assists in the generation of documentation relevant to the Analytical Laboratory, ensuring that current versions are available to Analytical and Extraction Chemists.

+ Assists with the identification of alternative test methods, work organization and/or equipment to improve efficiency and maximize throughput of testing in the laboratory. Investigates and establishes new and/or improved extraction and analysis methods as needed and/or directed by a Group Leader or Laboratory Manager to meet laboratory and client demands.

+ Remains informed of hazards associated with chemicals, equipment, and their use in a laboratory setting. Uses appropriate safeguards and personal protective equipment to prevent injury to themselves and others. Reports all accidents or unsafe conditions in the workplace. Additional duties

+ Performs role of analytical chemist, analytical investigator, or study director for EPA GLP studies.

+ Performs additional study tasks for GLP studies including sample receipt, storage, extraction, and analysis.

+ As needed, performs review on data packages submitted by other analytical and extraction chemists for quality, accuracy, consistency, and completeness and ensures proper procedures are followed for ISO17025 compliance as needed.


+ Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemistry or related science from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ 2-4 years of experience in liquid chromatography / mass spectroscopy (LC-MS), maintenance, and use.

+ Experience serving in a GLP study role for at least one EPA or FDA GLP study.
