Description Kelly Services is currently hiring an Analytical Chemist for a Direct Hire position located in the Columba SC area. The Analytical Chemist will be a vital member of a contract GLP Product Chemistry Lab. The Analytical Chemist will support the contract business by:


+ Develop, optimize and validate robust analytical methods for the analysis of pesticide, herbicide and fungicide formulations and technical grade active ingredients (TGAI)
+ Conduct routine physical property testing under GLP.
+ Participate in the scheduling of instrumentation/personnel to ensure that weekly testing goals are accomplished.
+ Participate in preparing/reviewing SOPs and other documentation
+ Interact with customers to maintain relationships and coordinate non-GLP analyses
**Desired Skills and Experience**

The following experience is desired for this position:


+ A minimum of a B.S. in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience required.
+ Must have a practical working knowledge of the operation of and maintenance of common analytical laboratory instruments such as GC, HPLC and AAS and possess a willingness to learn additional techniques and instrumentation.
+ Competency in common laboratory skills. Ex: titrations, use of an analytical balance, use of pipettes
+ Demonstrated technical competency and the ability to learn new skills, technical subject matter and the ability to apply broad technical knowledge to solve specific problems.
+ Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Strong verbal and communication skills.
+ Competency in Empower and TotalChrom/Chromera software a plus.
**Responsibilities:**


+ Develop, optimize and validate HPLC, GC and other methods for the analysis of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides in accordance with current OCSPP guidelines.
+ Coordinate instrument performance verifications, maintenance and repair activities. Maintain instrument logs and records.
+ Prepare written instructions (SOP’s, methods etc.) to ensure samples will be analyzed in the most accurate manner possible.
+ Operate in compliance with current Good Laboratory Practices requirements.
+ Document and record observations and results according to written SOP’s.
+ Conduct all job responsibilities in a manner consistent with all applicable safety and environmental laws and regulations, company policies and procedures, regulations and commit to continuously improve safety and environmental performance.
+ Participate in Continuous Improvement Efforts by identifying work-practices to reduce costs and/or improve throughput and quality and bring them to the attention of management.
