**Pay rate: $18-22/hr based on education/experience plus sign on bonus**

**Hours: 6am to 2pm or 7am to 3pm**

The Analytical Laboratory Technician 1 is responsible for performing analytical testing of inorganic materials. The Analytical Laboratory Technician 1 is responsible for managing data in support of requirements for customers and the ISO 17025 management system.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

50% Perform analytical testing using techniques including, but not limited to, gravimetric analysis, various wet chemistry methods, instrumentation to analyze %O, %N, and %C, as well as spectrographic methods to quantify trace elements while following standard procedure

15% Work with various members of the laboratory to receive training, use internal quality management software to access and acknowledge training documents and work instructions.

10% Use computer systems (LIMS, SAP, Microsoft Office) to perform data entry accurately and quickly with no errors or transpositions.

10% Active engagement in Continuous Improvement activities, as well as communication to management regarding work flow and issues

5% Maintain a safe, clean work environment.

5% Follow and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety policies

5% Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment.

**Quantitative Data**

The Analytical Laboratory Technician 1 must follow standard procedures regarding sample preparation prior to analysis. This includes very accurate weighing of samples, hot plate acid digestion of samples, and accurate dilutions among other common laboratory procedures. The Analytical Laboratory Technician 1 will have the ability to work on multiple samples at once, with an average completion rate of 5-10 samples per day, depending on the complexity of the analysis. Most importantly, the analyst will comply with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and ISO 17025 standards.


**Education Required:**

Twoyear Associates Degree in Chemistry, Physics or related field

**Preferred** :

Four-year Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Physics or related field

**Experience Required** :

o Minimum 1 years experience in a practical laboratory setting, whether in school or professional.

o Minimum 1 years experience demonstrating mechanical and mathematical aptitude


o At least 1 year of applied laboratory experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory

o Ability to work overtime as needed

o Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows applications.

o Must be computer savvy and able to learn new software rapidly.

o Must have good communication/interpersonal skills.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**

Ability to perform basic laboratory tasks, including but not limited to using an analytical balance, using volumetric pipets and flasks, and performing basic mathematical calculations.


Experience in an ISO 17025 laboratory setting, knowledge of proper documentation practices, basic troubleshooting skills, familiarity with DC Arc, LECO, gravimetric analysis, ICP-OES and/or AAS.
