Description **Analytical Laboratory Technician / Chemist - Nutraceutical , Costa Mesa, CA**

**Summary:** The Analytical Lab Technician, under direction and supervision, supports department operations with a variety of critical operational support functions including general lab housekeeping, glassware maintenance, purchasing and receiving of consumables, maintaining chemical inventory, performing calibrations, and chemical waste management. He/ she participates as a project team player in analytical testing including basic bench chemistry, data analysis, sample preparation, mobile phase preparation, and other duties as assigned in support of our analytical platforms (wet chemistry, UV/Vis, HPLC, UPLC, GC, & LCMS, and DNA sequencing). Identifies, analyzes, and suggests corrective actions to optimize laboratory operations, technology, and regulatory compliance issues. Along with routine responsibilities, research and special projects will be assigned as relevant to department & company needs.

**Position Type:** Contract-to-Hire

**Pay Range:** $16-20/hr depending upon education / experience

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**


+ Operational Support for Analytical Team. Ensuring general laboratory housekeeping and safety standards are met. Daily calibrations, qualifications, and glassware maintenance. Chemical waste disposal aligned with safe and best industry practices and SOP's.
+ Analytical Testing, including. Conducts wet chemistry and UV/Vis experiments including data analysis. Prepares volumetric solutions & test solutions, and maintains chemical inventory. Prepares samples for analytical testing including plant materials, extracts, and finished goods. Prepares solutions and mobile phases to support analytical testing.
+ Department Purchasing. Executes and organizes departmental purchasing and receiving of consumables and chemicals.
+ Quality Assurance Compliance. Executes assigned projects and activities in compliance with SOPs, cGMP, and FDA & DEA regulations and guidelines. Reviews and revises department SOPs.
+ Record Management. Maintains appropriate documentation of records and laboratory notebooks as required by SOPs and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Updates LIMS database as needed. Manages department files and document storage for archived Analytical Dept. records.
+ Other duties and projects as assigned including general laboratory housekeeping and documentation
**Job Requirements:**


+ Associate's degree (AS) in Science. Minimum of 2 years of study at college level, degree preferred.
+ At least one (1) year of experience in a chemistry laboratory. Demonstrated skills in bench chemistry such as operation of balances, pipettes, pH meter, volumetric transfers, etc.
+ Natural products or supplements industry experience a plus.
+ Experience with FDA Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR part 111) and cGMP guidelines is preferred.
+ Demonstrated skills in bench chemistry and associated mathematical conversions and calculations.
+ Technical analytical chemistry knowledge with acute attention to detail including bench chemistry techniques, documentation, as well as the ability to independently execute quantitative calculations & analyze data.
+ Ability to consistently and repeatedly prepare volumetric solutions & test solutions.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Computer skills including: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook required, Microsoft Access and Waters Empower a plus.
+ Capacity and interest in continually learning new skills
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload
+ Reads and writes complex documents with ease
+ Exhibits sound judgment and ability to independently reason solutions to routine challenges
+ Emphasizes importance of support for team goals.
