Position Description

As part of the Analytical Technology organization, this position will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tasks related to the analytical characterization of polymeric systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine testing and method development primarily utilizing gas and liquid chromatography as well as maintaining several instruments and other laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will work with senior analytical staff and collaborate with product and process technologists and the manufacturing organization to provide critical data needed to advance ongoing research projects and support manufacturing operations.

This position requires excellent communication and effective time management skills to conduct multiple project tasks and meet timelines while paying the utmost attention to safe practices and conditions and data integrity. Working with minimal supervision, the individual should be able to multi-task within a dynamic team environment. This position may require work hour flexibility and overtime occasionally.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

+ BS/BA degree in chemistry, material science or related field of study or 10 years of experience in chemical technology-related field

+ Demonstrated hands-on experience with chromatography instrumentation (e.g. GC, GC-MS, SEC, GPEC, HPLC)

+ Excellent planning & organization skills

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

+ Experience with MS Office

+ Ability to safely handle hazardous solvents and other materials

+ Ability to wear a respirator as needed for waste disposal

Desired Qualifications

+ Experience working in an industrial laboratory environment

+ Experience with Agilent ChemStation and MassHunter software

+ Experience with related analytical instrumentation (e.g. FTIR, NMR, SEM) is a plus

+ Experience developing new methods/procedures for laboratory instrumentation

+ Knowledge related to polymers and polymer characterization

+ Knowledge in design of experiments or basic statistical analysis
