**Animal Care Technician**


**Watertown, MA area. Candidate must have reliable transportation. Will need to travel in/around Boston metro area. mileage, time and cell phone will be reimbursed by the client**


**Temp to hire**


**Pay rate: $18-25/hr based on education and experience**


**Shifts/Sc** **hedule is either: Tues-Sat 7a-4p OR Sun-Th 7a-4p with some flex**


**OT is available but not required**




**Description** :

The Animal Husbandry Technician will perform routine and customize animal husbandry services for

clients located in and around the Boston Metro area as assigned. All animals will be handled in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations. You will also be responsible for providing exemplary customer support and to ensure the highest level

of customer service and satisfaction.

**Key Responsibility and Functions:**

Provide animals with fresh and adequate food and water daily

Perform scheduled health observations and assessments

Immediately communicate with management and Client regarding any animal anomalies observe

Change and clean animal cages, as scheduled. Most cages are disposable

Assist with animal intake, evaluation and treatment

Complete and maintain all applicable logs and check sheets, as required

Comply with Standard Operating procedures specific to each facility

Monitor facility conditions (including temperature and humidity data) and maintain all applicable logs and check sheets for same

Immediately report any facilities issue to management and Client, as appropriate

Operate & maintain cage washers and other equipment, as instructed

Clean and sanitize animal facility following established protocols and schedules

Stock supplies, as needed

Maintain work and general facility/lab areas in a neat and organized manner

Process biohazard waste steams

May be crossed trained on dosing and sample collection as needed

The above is intended to be a basic outline of the general duties of this position. You may be asked to perform other and/or additional relevant duties for the company and/or its Client.

**Physical Requirements:**

Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.

Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

**Requirements:**

High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college, technical school or BS preferred.

AALAS Certification of ALAT or higher strongly preferred

Husbandry experience in a laboratory animal facility preferred

Must have reliable transportation

Must be punctual and cooperative with all members of Company, Client Company and other team members

Ability to prioritize work schedule(s) and follow tasks through from inception to completion using good judgment, tact and discretion

Flexible, self-motivated team-player who is able to work well with others and independently

Willingness to learn and to perform various, duties in keeping with the Company and/or Clients changing needs, is an absolute must.

Must be willing to travel to and work at multiple client locations, as needed.

**Special Considerations**

Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.
