**Job Description**
Purpose Statement: The Application Technician supports GE Current Technologys product development efforts as a member of the Nela Park laboratory team. The laboratory team is involved in the product development process from testing and choosing LED packages, to various performance and safety testing of finished lighting products and controls. The team also provides engineering support with building porotypes, designing new tests, troubleshooting field returns and failures and writing reports for communication to external customers. Team members work closely with GE Currents global engineering team that includes engineers from various US location, Canada, Mexico and China.
Essential Functions:
Operate, maintain and calibrate gonio photometer for visible light intensity distribution measurement
Operate, maintain EMI chamber
Provide electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance for testing equipment
Evaluate samples and assist in electrical test set-ups for engineers
Performs specialized lamp, fixture performance tests
Enter data electronically and support computer upload problems
Maintain the equipment and maintenance logs of measurement systems
Perform Product Test Operator functions as needed
Perform Product Test Entry Operator functions as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Have a part in identifying and implementing continuous improvement in all testing systems
Support the upgrade of testing equipment
Hands-on implementation of projects aimed at improving measurement productivity and quality
Set-up, calibrate and operate a variety of testing systems
Competencies:
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written work instructions
Must be well-organized and excellent with detail
Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
Required
+ Associates degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or other similar degree
+ 4+ years of experience in similarly situated positions
+ Knowledge of fundamental electrical and electronic concepts, practices and procedures applied to testing and measurement equipment, operation and troubleshooting
+ Ability to troubleshooting and repair electronics equipment or instrumentation including controls
+ Must have experience in application and use of electronic meters including digital oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, PC computers
+ Experience in conducting electrical tests on components or complex systems
+ Must have experience with Windows OS & Microsoft Office products
+ Have experience working with Data Acquisition Systems
Preferred
+ Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or other similar degree with 2 plus years of experience in similar roles
+ Desirable to have working knowledge of VB, VBA, VB.NET, SQL, HTML, JAVA, and LabView (PLC background a plus)
+ Have experience with Net Working, USB, GPIB, WIFI, LAN, and Bar Coding
