Our client, in Aviation/ Aerospace Component Manufacturing (Lighted Pushbutton Switches, Avionics Interface Solutions, etc.), is currently hiring an Applications Engineer (an Engineers Engineer" - A real builder and problem-solver). Role is a Direct Hire.

The right Electrical Engineer (not really detailed electrical design, but someone that can work electrical design of discrete, solid-state circuits at the semiconductor level), would also be a good fit, someone that could be trained. Also, someone with high-level C coding would be helpful for embedded software applications.

EE, Computer Science, Python and C-code development, and someone good talking with Customers, 3-5 yrs. experience, would be ideal.

This position is onsite. A hybrid model is in the works, but at this this, incumbent is required to be onsite 5 days a week.


The Applications Engineer position is full-time, FLSA exempt (salary) position which reports to Product Line Manager. The purpose of this position is to have a subject-matter expert with a particular focus on electrical interface products, which may include software-based applications. Primary activities involve the use of internal products to design and propose concepts for customer-specific interface solutions. The ideal candidate is interested in working with hundreds of customers and enjoys designing multiple new solutions each day.

Essential Functions:

Possess expert knowledge of product options, performance characteristics and parametric tables.

Primary contact for technical inquiries beyond standard catalog features and benefits.

Direct and indirect communication with aerospace and military engineering customers to help design solutions that utilize the best combination(s) of products.

Gathers detailed requirements from customers for electrical design support.

Performs analog and digital electronic circuit simulations to confirm a proposed electrical design.

Produces example wiring diagrams to demonstrate purposed interface concepts using products.

Maintains a library of wiring diagrams, application solutions, aircraft wiring and additional industry publications for use in application engineering efforts.

Capable of identifying additional used of products while supporting an existing design or potential future designs.

Capable of accurate technical writing, review, editing, release of documents and drawings for publication. For example, contributes to the writing of datasheets, technical guides, installation manuals, brochures and application engineering notes.

Identifies, documents (Part Number Spec-Sheet), and recommends common product configurations to manufacturing for potential stock items.

Identifies, documents (CRM) and communicates existing and potential future application opportunities to sales.

Identifies applications, provides wiring diagrams and descriptions of prevalent applications to marketing.

for use in publications, web-based applications and various advertising efforts.

Marginal Functions:

Regularly engages with product development and manufacturing personnel for continued improvement in product knowledge and technical competence.

Develops training materials, and conducts in-person, virtual and other means of technical product demonstrations for customers and the sales team.

Provides detailed feedback, justification and recommendations to product development for potential new products and features.

Qualifications for Hire:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or Physics is preferred.

Three to Five Years work experience, in the candidates field of education/training. The ideal candidate's experience should include analog and digital electronic circuit design.

Aerospace industry experience with some knowledge of FAA certification is preferred (STC, PMA, TSO processes).

Experience with analog and digital electronic circuit simulation and test software is required (i.e., LTspice, Multisim, LabVIEW, Diligent Analog Studio).

Required software applications are MS Office Suite and MS Visio or EdrawMax.

Modeling software like AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus.

Experience with front-end, high-level and general-purpose development languages is preferred (i.e., XML, HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C, C++, C#, etc.).

Software engineering certifications are a plus.

The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, capable of describing complex technical ideas in terms that are easy to understand.

The ideal candidate is a punctual professional with an intrinsic sense of initiative and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate possesses a genuine sense of ownership and pride in his or her work and recognizes how their efforts are instrumental to the overall success of the corporate vision.

The ideal candidate must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug test and may be required to attain a security clearance.

The ideal candidate may be required to travel up to 6 times per year, in 1-week increments (SME On Design meet, Trade Show, support staff).

Travel and tradeshow responsibilities may require the ability to lift 30lbs overhead, climb a ladder, and operate a pallet jack.
