Kelly Science, a global staffing and solutions provider of specialty talent, is currently recruiting for a **Associate Laboratory Director** in Kent, WA! This position is critical to the overall success of the organization and laboratory operations. Our client is a pioneer and leader in saliva-based and other non-invasive testing and handles a medium volume of clinical testing at 50 - 70 samples per day. **Pay rate** : $90k+/year depending on experience

**Schedule** : Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

**Duration:** Direct-hire (permanent position)


+ Ensure the laboratory is in compliance with regulatory agencies such as CLIA, JACO, Washington State Department of Health and the FDA

+ Lead a team of 3 direct reports and 25 indirect reports

+ Selection of test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of test results

+ Verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system

+ Enrollment and participation in an HHS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered

+ Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that those levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process

+ Resolving technical issues and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications

+ Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly

+ Identifying training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education

+ Direct observations of routine patient test performance

+ Monitoring the recording and reporting of test results

+ Review the intermediate test results and worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing results, and preventative maintenance records

+ Direct observation of performance of instrument maintenance and function checks

+ Assessment of test performance through testing of previously analyzed specimens, internal blind testing samples, or external proficiency testing samples

+ Assessment of problem solving skills

+ Evaluating and documenting the performance of individuals responsible for CLIA certified high complexity testing at least semi-annually during the first year the individual tests patient specimens. Thereafter, evaluations must be performed at least annually unless test methodology or instrumentation changes.


+ PhD in life science or related field required

+ 4-5 years of experience in supervisory laboratory role

+ Experience working in a clinical or industry laboratory setting

+ Great communication skills
