**Direct Hire Position**


Kelly Science & Clinical is looking for an Associate Scientist for a nutraceutical contract manufacturer located in Valencia, California. This company is a premier supplement development and manufacturing company supporting the general wellness and sport nutrition industry. They offer customers services that include analytical development, reformulation testing, new to market product formulation development, GMP manufacturing and testing. This candidate will be expected to understand and execute basic oral dose formulation procedures to create pre-production two-piece hard-shell specifications. Formulation techniques to be introduced may include blending, milling, compression, capsule filling, blend sampling and granulation. The individual is expected to become familiar with many common excipients and may assist in the production process after formulation. All duties will be performed in compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and GMP regulations, as appropriate.


**General Responsibilities**


+ Performing pre-formulation studies and selected suitable excipients for oral dosage forms (Two-Piece Hard-Shell Capsules).

+ Produce procedures and specifications for the production encapsulation of formulations.

+ Designing and performing the quality scientific experimentation to develop robust processes in support of formulation and process development activities for two-piece hard-shell capsules.

+ Must know how to operate and troubleshoot the encapsulation machines used to address issues in relation to formulation and production.

+ Collaborating with the technical operations team for the successful transfer of the process to the commercial operations.

+ Reviewing and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for formulation and/or process changes.

+ Coordinating activities with the Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Process Engineering and Manufacturing Departments.


**Job Qualifications**


+ 4-year degree in a physical, chemical, biological, or pharmaceutical science required.

+ 2 years of experience in two-piece hard shell oral formulation development is a must.

+ Experience in formulating with two-piece hard-shell encapsulation machines, automatic and semi-automatic.

+ A good working knowledge of excipients and flow agents.

+ Ability to develop new dose strengths from existing formulations.

+ High level of attention to detail; good verbal and written communication skills.

+ Ability to accurately maintain logs; follow written and verbal instructions and work independently to perform duties; ensures his department is maintained in an efficient, clean, and safe manner; math skills required; ability to lift up to 40 lbs required; ability to learn quickly and to work with little or no supervision.
