**Primary Responsibilities of the Associate Scientist III, Technical Development includes:**

JOB DESCRIPTION HIGHLIGHTS

* Needs level of independence for lab work; experimental design will be team focused (not independent)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/TASKS TO BE PERFORMED
This individual will design and conduct laboratory experiments to develop a magnetic particle based synthesis of oligonucleotides. This person may select or design magnetic particles and evaluate their performance for synthesis of oligonucleotides experimentally, design appropriate purification procedure of intermediates, provide equipment design ideas as needed. By conducting carefully designed experiments and collecting data, this person will help the team to gain deep chemical knowledge about each reactions and related impurities. In addition, the generation of detailed documentation and effective communication with collaborators internally and externally are expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
Areas of specialization should reside in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in the development of novel synthetic methodologies and the design of reactions. The individual should have a deep understanding of fundamental reaction mechanisms and the demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments using a variety of data sources to achieve the objectives of the research. Essential traits include the ability to critically interpret the data, ability to use basic analytical tools to monitor reactions or to identify the product and side products, clear and concise communication of results in written and oral forms, flexible work style, and a commitment to work collaboratively within a team environment. Experience in the synthesis of nucleosides, nucleotides, sugars, H-phosphonates, phosphoramidites, and some familiarity with the use of resins or magnetic particles are preferred.

**Education and Experience Requirement of the Associate Scientist III, Technical Development includes** :

Candidates must have MS or Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry.

**Additional Information:**
