**Summary**



The Associate Scientist in the Molecular Biology and Protein Engineering group will be responsible for supporting efforts to isolate, clone, characterize and optimize new molecules for the development and testing of protein therapeutics. This includes mono-, bi- and multi-specific antibody-like proteins. The Associate Scientist will be proficient in current molecular biology techniques used in protein engineering and high throughput screening, including designing primers and synthetic DNA fragments for routine cloning, batch subcloning, site-directed mutagenesis and cloning of variable regions of antibodies from single-cells and hybridomas. The incumbent will also be responsible to perform high throughput in vitro assays using automation to characterize product candidates.



**Responsibilities**




+ Design and construct protein product candidates as well as reagent molecules using current molecular biology techniques

+ Generate libraries of proteins using molecular biology techniques

+ Screen large number of candidates and critically analyze large volumes of data, including DNA sequences

+ Isolate and/or sequence-identify variable regions of antibodies from mammalian cells

+ Assist in the characterization and testing of protein product candidates using ELISA, HTRF and Flow Cytometry

+ Communicate and collaborate with other research groups across multiple project to support pre-clinical research programs.

+ Enter all data in internal bioinformatics systems and eLN, prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses



**Qualifications**




+ A bachelors, masters or Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biophysical chemistry or chemical engineering.

+ Three or two years of post-degree and/or industry experience required for the bachelors or masters level, respectively

+ Ability to independently design, construct and verify recombinant proteins using DNA sequence analysis is essential.

+ Expertise in modern molecular biology techniques and understanding of elements of design and construction of protein therapeutics highly desirable.

+ Working knowledge of single cell isolation and gene cloning is highly desirable.

+ Experience working in BSL2 environment is desirable.
