The Automation Controls Specialist I will be part of a team of driven and enthusiastic engineers working to prototype, design, develop, and test an innovative STAR-3DTM hybrid rocket engines for our small launch vehicle.
In this position you will provide competent and effective automation and controls support to vehicle and launch operations. The Automation Controls Specialist I will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting and repairing problems in automation, instrumentation and controls systems that occur. The ability to run tests, isolate problems, replace faulty devices and perform other tasks as necessary is essential. Reports to the Manufacturing Team Lead (reporting structure may be change at the companys discretion).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, control systems, analyzers and electrical equipment.
Maintain, debug, and troubleshoot robotic and PLC programs
Ensure compliance with all legislative safety requirements
Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings.
Must be proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters.
Develops, maintains and updates standard operating procedures as needed.
Collaborates with others to share knowledge and create consistency across the company.
Set up and operate limited types of shop tools and specialized test, measuring equipment and hand tools utilized in any phase of installation or maintenance.
Conduct or set up evaluation tests on valves, motors, instruments, etc.
Must be proficient in troubleshooting 120-volt AC controls, 480-volt motors and switch gear.
Qualifications
High School Education or GED required.
Strong trouble shooting and diagnostic skills
Willing to travel in support of operations as needed.
Ability to work independently or as a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Working knowledge of standard process software
Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary
US Person as defined in 22 CRF Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data
Preferred Skills and Education
Mechatronics degree (Preferred)
Process instrumentation/electrical maintenance /industry: 2 years (Preferred)
