**Electrical Engineer Plant Automation**


Kelly Engineering Resources is working with a manufacturer that searching for **mid-level Electrical Automation Engineer.** In this position, you will be joining an organization involved in heavy industry. Our client fosters a culture of inclusivity, work life balance and promotes from within. You would be one of 2 electrical engineers in the plant engineering department that supports plant continuous improvement activities. You would be responsible for all aspects of plant automation including:


+ complete design, development of instrumentation & controls, PLCs and their associated networks and hardware.

+ full project responsibilities that include justification, design, planning, scheduling, selecting, managing contractors, FAT when receiving new equipment.

+ hands on and remote engineering support to reduce equipment downtime.


**Essential Responsibilities:**


+ Plan overall operation of the automation and electrical areas and ensures achievement of goals and objectives.

+ Planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.

+ Develop scope of work

+ Collaborate with the Production and Engineering Managers to coordinate changes in the production process and resolve equipment malfunctions.

+ Manage automation teams workflow and automation related projects and provides weekly status report to plant management.

+ Leads and participates in Focus Improvement teams to resolve critical process and production problems with customers and vendors.

+ Identify new opportunities and solutions with cost/benefit analysis and make recommendations to improve efficiencies.

+ Implements required updates to avoid technical obsolescence.

+ Responsible for managing equipment and labor costs within the departments budget.

+ Designing or developing new process control systems, revising / maintaining of existing processes including from plant floor to management and financial level.

+ Allen Bradley PLC environment

+ Create HMI screens -layout and make changes

+ Use AutoCAD Electrical for layout of conduit schedule

+ Prepares and maintains data sheets, wiring and Process &Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and flow charts required for the proper and efficient operation of plant equipment

+ Writes work instructions and SOPs

+ Developing and implementing projects

+ Ensures standards of safety, quality and reliability are built into power distribution and control systems.

+ Interfaces with corporate IT and local IT infrastructure direction.

+ Provide technical expertise, support, and enhancement of automation related systems: PLC, HMI, VFD, Instrumentation, Data and Voice Networks, plant electrical distribution systems

+ Assists maintenance team with any difficult troubleshooting issues.

+ Provides training for operators and maintenance personnel.

+ Uses advanced tools / techniques to reduce process variations and downtime.

+ Identifies and resolves special cause variation in the process.

+ Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads the implementation of corrective actions.

+ Collects, interprets, and extrapolates data from the production process to monitor current equipment performance against established baselines and applies appropriate corrective actions

+ Manage and guide contractors, consultants, and suppliers

+ Interacts with managers and supervisors, at the plant and corporate level, to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement controls projects.

+ Interacts with consultants and suppliers to determine the compatibility of other systems and products as they may apply to World Class Manufacturing processes and Controls.

+ Develops and maintains relationships with key suppliers of instrumentation, automation, and electrical process control systems.

+ Ensures full documentation of all projects and systems to WCM / Early Equipment Management EEM standards.

+ Maintains records of plant and individual equipment performance.

+ Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, and supports VMVO and WCM initiatives.

+ Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.


**Qualifications of the Successful Electrical Automation Engineer**


+ Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience.

+ Minimum 5 years of applied professional experience Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) /PLC including: electrical process control, instrumentation, automation, industrial protocols / networking (switching & routing) and databases.

+ Strong expertise in integrated automation & information systems in a manufacturing environment.

+ Thorough working knowledge with National Electrical Code (NEC) and Arc-Flash (NFPA-70) code requirements.

+ Plant project experience.

+ Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

+ Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
