**Bioinformatics Scientist - NIH - Baltimore, MD**

We are currently seeking a **Bioinformatics Scientist** to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in **Baltimore, MD.**

**OVERVIEW.** This is a long-term, open-ended contract position which offers:

**TASKS/SERVICES.** The contractor shall:

+ Work with staff on the analysis of large-scale genome-wide datasets, including ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, single cell genomics etc. and proteomics.

+ Work with staff on the development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools, scripts and pipe-lines for NGS data.

+ Contribute intellectually to development of algorithms and models

+ Develop and maintain web tools and web sites.

+ Set up and maintain computer resources and networks in the Laboratory.

+ Contribute to the publication of scientific reports.

+ Provide computational support for staff members of the Laboratory.

**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:

+ Ph.D. or Master's degree in a related discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a Master's degree.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.

+ Extensive experience with UNIX System Administration and job schedules for high-performance computing clusters.

+ Expertise in Bioinformatics, in particular experience with NGS data and some inferential statistics.

+ Familiarity with Unix/Bash scripting, Python/Perl and R.

+ Knowledge of epigenomics and transcriptomics data analysis and Bioinformatic databases/resources including DNA Sequence Annotations and molecular function knowledge bases.

+ Up-to-date knowledge of recently released tools (R and python-based) for NGS analysis including single-cell genomics.

+ Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
