We are currently seeking a **Bioinformatics Scientist** to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in **Research Triangle Park, NC.**



**OVERVIEW.** This is a long-term, open-ended contract position which offers:

**TASKS/SERVICES.** The contractor shall:




+ Work with staff on projects requiring programming and statistical analysis on published and unpublished datasets from single-cell sequencing data.

+ Develop new methods and apply current approaches for feature selection, optimization, integration and visualization of dynamic and spatial biological processes using single-cell analysis.

+ Work with staff to collect, preprocess, normalize, and organize data from multiple studies.

+ Develop code and pipelines to conduct analysis; document code for completeness and detail needed for reproducibility.

+ Perform literature reviews related to analytical methods as appropriate for study goals.

+ Test and evaluate alternative analytical tools to optimize analysis plans for computational speed, and appropriateness for the biological hypothesis or modeling.

+ Work with bioinformatics Core staff to coordinate aspects of single-cell data analysis; providing project coordination/management support.

+ Advise and train other staff and trainees on statistical genetics approaches.

+ Work with staff on writing and reviewing manuscripts and on writing protocols; prepare figures and tables associated with publications.

+ Present and discuss summary data in single-cell related consortiums and conferences; summarize and email results to collaborators; prepare PowerPoint slides and summaries for oral presentations.

+ Collect, analyze and interpret data; update and maintain detailed computational resources and databases.

+ Participate and collaborate in seminars, group lab meetings, and journal clubs; present results and findings for staff discussion.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Masters degree in a science related field; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a bachelors degree is equivalent to a Masters degree.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.

+ Some experience in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, genetics, computational biology or closely related areas.

+ Programming skills.

+ Some experience in image processing as well as dynamic and spatial single-cell analysis.

+ Knowledge of techniques, software programs, and guidelines in statistical omics analysis.

+ Ability to maintain accurate and complete records of data, data structures, and analysis.

+ Programming skills in the following languages: R, Perl, Python, Shell scripting, HTML, XML, C, C++.

+ First authorship of manuscripts; presentations of past research.

+ Evidence of strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
