**Job length: 1 year**



**Pay rate: $28 to $32.00/hour**



The Biological Materials Movement Support worker will support the North American Biological Material Movement Team within Regulatory Affairs at BASF. The Biological Material Movement Team is responsible for ensuring compliance with local and international rules, company policies and procedures, while also providing expertise, training, and support to those planning and moving biological material within, into or out of North America.


**POSITION SUMMARY**

Ensure that the movement of biological material within and between different legal entities of BASF and to third parties fulfills internal quality standards, regulatory, intellectual property, and legal requirements. Compliance with rules and requirements is essential to avoid fines/penalties, reduce lost time due to incidents or non-conformities, gain respect from regulatory agencies with whom the company needs to work with and avoid potential damage to BASF reputation.


**POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Support the North America (NA) Biological Material Movement Coordinators (BMMCs) with the movement of seeds, plant tissue, and other biological research materials.

Review shipment documentation for completeness and accuracy before shipment dispatch. Correct documentation within company systems or communicate corrections or required modifications to shippers.

Assist in ensuring that biological R&D shipments within the NA region comply with external and internal requirements by:

o Obtaining approvals from the different business functions, as needed, before shipments occur

o Reviewing packaging and labeling requirements

o Ensuring inclusion of permits, certificates and other required documents

o Ensuring traceability and other movement requirements are met

o Assisting shippers in understanding movement processes and with the use of movement tools

Maintain shipping log and records as required. Monitor shipments as needed.

Provide the green light for shipments to proceed after determining that documentation is complete and required approvals are in place.


**REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES**

**Education Requirement(s):**

Bachelors degree with an understanding of dynamics involved in the movement and/or handling of biological materials OR Bachelors degree in international affairs with some knowledge of customs regulations OR Bachelors degree in an agricultural field

**Requirements:**

Above average communication skills, patience, diplomacy, team spirit, persistence to deal effectively with diverse and intercultural teams, and practical analytical and problem-solving skills

Working experience in movement of biological material, traceability requirements and their regulations

Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in documentation and process adherence

Ability to perform under stress and time pressures associated with a heavy workload

Solid working experience with mid-level to advanced level Microsoft Excel

SAP experience highly desirable

Auditing skills

Knowledge of plant pests and pathogens

Knowledge of international trade and customs-related activities




**_The BASF office is located at 2 TW Alexander Drive, RTP, NC. This position will work from home until such time as COVID-restrictions have been lifted to allow return to the office._**



**_Travel Requirements:_**

**_Travel between local area sites (in Morrisville and RTP) may be required for meetings or other activities from time to time._**
