We are currently seeking an Animal Biologist to work with the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:

+ Perform research activities such as: section brains, process tissue using immunohistochemistry and/or in-situ hybridization techniques, analyze tissue and perform cell counts using image analysis software.

+ Conduct experiments in accordance with established protocols and practices using a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments.

+ Perform routine laboratory upkeep such as: storing and disposing of hazardous material, preparing solutions, media, stains and buffers.

+ Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.

+ Interpret and adapt guidelines for application to complex laboratory problems .

+ Assist in presenting information to laboratory personnel and training of users of the facilities in histological techniques and use of microscopes.

+ Conduct analyses and prepare reports pertaining to laboratory experiments or other operations.

+ Collaborate on the update and creation of standard operating procedures.

**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:

+ Bachelors degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Biology or a related field.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents.

+ Experience processing brain tissue using immunohistochemistry.

+ Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.

+ Ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to work independently.
