We are currently seeking a Biologist with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:

+ Perform a wide range of techniques including but not limited to ELISA, FACS, qPCR, and _in vitro_ cell based experiments.

+ Handle biospecimen samples.

+ Perform experiments in accordance with protocols; periodically evaluate progress of experiments to meet deadlines; identify problems or deficiencies in methodology or protocols; take appropriate corrective action(s); evaluate new or unfamiliar methods or protocols.

+ Collect, organize and record accurate experimental data in a form suitable for publication and future reference.

+ Maintain complete, detailed records of all experiments performed in laboratory notebooks, perform results summary and figure production.

+ Work with staff to conduct research and analyze data.

+ Discuss the results of experiments with scientific personnel interested in the project; give informal presentations at staff meetings.

+ Work with staff on the preparation of manuscripts of papers for publication; assemble data in both tabular (i.e., tables, graphs, charts) and narrative form; note any areas where the data need attention.

+ Prepare samples collected from research protocols according to established standards.

+ Advise on requirements regarding orders and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment.

+ Organize and maintain the research laboratory; maintain adequate levels of buffers, reagents, and other supplies; maintain and organize sample stock for projects.

+ Ensure that laboratory equipment is available, calibrated and in good repair; assist in arranging for service when needed; coordinate installation of and training on new equipment.

+ Advise staff on the methods and procedures for safe handling and disposal or hazardous materials used in laboratory experiments.

+ Train new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, application of techniques and laboratory protocols.

+ Interact and collaborate with post-bac, post-doctoral fellows and non-doctoral research technicians on experimental design and laboratory-based methodologies.

+ Provide orientation and training on the methods and procedures used in the laboratory to new lab personal and students; provide training and guidance in a range of laboratory procedures and in the use of various types of laboratory equipment.

+ Prepare written instructions to guide others in the performance of standard laboratory procedures.

**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:

+ Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

+ Training in ELISA performance.

+ Statistical analysis skills for evaluating data.

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
