We are currently seeking a **Biomedical Engineer** to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in **Bethesda, MD.**



**OVERVIEW.** This is a long-term, open-ended contract position which offers:

**TASKS/SERVICES.** The contractor shall:




+ Participate in the physical construction of an optically pumped magnetometer (OPM) magnetoencephalography (MEG) imaging system.

+ Develop and debug software to calibrate an OPM MEG system using simulated annealing of the position of a fixed current dipole array.

+ Develop and debug software to precisely characterize OPM sensor cross-talk and compensate for cross-talk in subsequent processing of sensor data.

+ Utilize beamforming to obtain three dimensional images from data collected using the OPM array system.

+ Develop solutions to both software and hardware issues encountered during construction and calibration of an OPM MEG array.

+ Work with collaborators within and outside the NIH to improve image quality and resolution of an OPM MEG system.

+ Share procedures and methodology with collaborators.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Master's degree.

+ Four (4) years of experience in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.

+ Experience in sensor calibration and software design OR any experience with OPM MEG.

+ Skill in modern programming languages including C, C++ and python, and experience with software development in an open source environment with the use of version control software such as git.

+ Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
