**Responsibilities:**


The Global Buyer/Planner is primarily responsible for supporting the procurement of assigned segments across sites. Main responsibilities include:


Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity.

Maintain ERP based purchasing system database, investigate inventory discrepancies, resolve delivery/receiving and payment issues.

Analyze incoming requisitions and shortage reports for quality, specification, pricing and delivery requirements and ensure efficient timely management of such.

Purchase assigned goods and services while working to improve quality, on time delivery, and price.

Routinely provides qualitative and quantitative supplier feedback.

Maintain direct contact with suppliers to ensure the quality and quantity of products, parts, and services meet established performance objectives including execution of Supplier Scorecards and QBRs.

Develops relationships with suppliers whilst maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical conduct.

Create, maintain, and execute detailed production and distribution plans to meet customer requirements, optimize inventory and balance plant utilization and capacity.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize safety stock minimize inventory obsolescence.

Develop and implement allocation strategies for products in short supply.

Review, resolve and escalate issues that impact plan completion.

Communication and coordination of plan and company priorities throughout BNSM sites

Participate in Engineering Change Order review, approval and implementation of material phase-in and phase-out.

Ensure data integrity of master data elements which drive production and MRP (safety stock, cycle times, BOM accuracy, effectivity dates).

Manage timely execution of MRP actions to ensure uninterrupted supply to customer

Troubleshoot transactional records to resolve inventory discrepancies and manufacturing variances

Build and maintain methodology and tools for ongoing performance analysis

Monitor supply chain key performance indicators, publish performance reports, perform root-cause analysis, implement action plans, and strive for continuous improvement. (plan vs. actual, VMI, OTD, expiry, shortages, etc.)

Provide training support for new personnel.

Provide planning system knowledge support for site and affiliates.

Create Ad hoc reports/analysis.

Able to understand risks associated with areas of responsibility and take action to avoid issues occurring.


**Qualifications:**

Strong customer service focus to enhance satisfaction, demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.

Manage metrics to track overall success and effectiveness of segment performance.

Ability to maintain poise and a positive attitude in a challenging environment.


**Education & Experience**

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 3 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Thorough knowledge of procurement, vendor relations, material planning and inventory management.

Proficient with ERP, MRP and MPS systems. SAP preferred.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure and perform data analysis

Ability to distill complex issues into simple, effective messages for management

Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office suite

Strong project management and interpersonal skills

Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills

APICS certification preferred
