**Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Cell Therapy Lab Supervisor for a Direct Hire opportunity in San Diego, CA.**


**JOB SUMMARY**


The Cell Therapy Supervisor will work with the Cell Therapy Manager for the daily operation and supervising of the Cell Therapy laboratory. The CT Supervisor is responsible for all key activities related to the manufacture, testing, storage of GMP products, and will ensure departmental compliance with related policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The supervisor may also be called on for additional research, investigational, and/or process development. This position leads the training, educational, and technical expertise needs of cell therapy laboratory personnel. Responsible for supporting Client safety, GMP and Quality Plan.


**RESPONSIBILITIES**


+ Develop and maintain staffing plans in accordance with operational demand.

+ Performs essential laboratory responsibilities according to established procedures.

+ Adheres to good manufacturing practices (GMP) guidelines.

+ Responsible for the care, maintenance and quality control of equipment and supplies.

+ Assists with upkeep of Cell Therapy Laboratory records, reports, and statistical data.

+ Assists in developing and implementing new lab processes and procedures.

+ Responsible for staff competencies, goal setting, mentoring, and training.

+ Assists with laboratory quality and variance programs.

+ Participates in process improvement programs for the laboratory.

+ May assist in the review of test results, reports and/or quality control records.

+ Collects blood testing samples and qualifies donor.

+ Performs procedures for processing/freezing cell products.

+ Performs colony assay procedures, cell counts and sterility testing.

+ Performs immunophenotyping of cells by flow cytometry.

+ Prepares and ships cord blood units for transplant.

+ Provides information and consultation to customers as required.

+ Assists with maintaining laboratory proficiency and audit readiness.


**WORKING ENVIROMENT**


+ Normal laboratory environment with biohazard precautions.

+ Familiar with or gains familiarity with aseptic techniques for cell culture/manipulation and relevant tissue.


+ May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids that may be capable of transmitting diseases.

+ May be exposed to chemicals that may be hazardous. (ex. _Liquid Nitrogen)_

+ May be called on to work or attend meetings and give scientific presentations at other than routinely scheduled hours.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


+ Must be able to stand/sit long hours.

+ Must be able to effectively manipulate materials/supplies for manufacturing and related activities.

+ Must be able to communicate clearly.

+ May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.


**EQUIPTMENT USED**


+ General Laboratory equipment (examples include but are not limited to: centrifuges, heat sealer, sterile docking device, refrigerators/freezers, sterile hood, cell counter)

+ Normal office equipment e.g., telephone, computer, cell phone, copier, fax.


**QUALIFICATIONS**


Education:


+ Bachelor of Science in biology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.


Experience:


+ 7+ years experience in cell therapy, hematology, flow cytometry or microbiology preferred.

+ Basic understanding of sterility, hematology and cell therapy research and development.


Skills:


+ Ability to perform moderate to high complexity testing with little supervision.

+ Assist with troubleshooting of technical and/or mechanical problems.

+ Able to educate and delegate moderate complexity testing.

+ Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships and manage support staff and customers.

+ Critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.

+ Decision-making skills. Uses authority appropriately in making sound judgments in a timely manner. Accepts accountability.

+ Professional communication both written and oral, which is clear and precise.

+ Must keep Lab Management informed on any technical and/or operational issues that arise.

+ Organizational skills - time management, priorities, deadlines, goals.

+ Flexibility - ability to effectively manage change and positively influence others.

+ Attention to detail and cGMP compliance.

+ Integrity and discretion - ability to maintain confidentiality.

+ Ability to perform under pressure and work under stressful situations.

+ Team orientation.


Licenses/Certification:


+ Biotech certificate valued, not required
