**Kelly Science has several openings for Chemical Operators for our growing client near Milwaukee, WI**


Pay: $19.75/hr


1st shift available: 6am-2:30pm


2nd shift available: 1pm-9:30pm



Under the direction of the Value Stream Manager, the Chemical Manufacturing Operator I sets up and operates limited departmental equipment to perform bulk material processing, standard chemical preparations, and a limited number of drying/kiln type furnace operations according to production orders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use proper safety and personal protective equipment. Understand how to find and use SDS. Perform proper disposal of regulated waste debris and process wastewater. Work with hazardous preps safely. Participate in departmental safety programs. Perform basic air-sensitive compound manipulations.


Operate equipment to achieve necessary reactions and results to include tube furnaces, often performing complex operations. Set up furnaces and monitor process. Set up vacuum ovens, distillation equipment and fine glassware. Operate large processing equipment (500 gal.). Maintain instrumentation and equipment including preventive maintenance as needed.


Sample products and submit for analytical tests using the computer system.


Filter material using gravity or suction methods and dry final products to appropriate consistency.


Perform precipitation reactions in aqueous solutions.


Accurately complete labor data entry along with material goods issuing and receipting into the ERP system.


Read and comprehend Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedure and Lab Records using the Quality Management System.


Good documentation practices are required, which includes filling out and keeping concise, accurate and complete lab records.


Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.


PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: Requires the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, a respirator, and protective clothing such as a uniform or lab coat. Other, more specialized protective gear may be required occasionally.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. 1-3 years experience in an industrial setting is required. A high school diploma or GED is required. An education generally equivalent to an associate's degree in chemistry from a two-year college or technical school or a bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics (or other related hard science) is acceptable in lieu of work experience.
