Description **LABORATORY TECHNICIAN**

The candidate will work closely with a team of R&D chemists to support process chemistry projects for Performance and Specialty Plastics.

The experiments to be performed are aimed at resolving manufacturing process related issues.

This role involves but is not limited to carrying out experiments in glassware and stainless steel reactors. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, the work may also involve other laboratory activities such as operation of viscosity measurement instruments, and design and installation of lab equipment.

The laboratory technician position requires documenting the experimental conditions and results in lab journals, and summarizing/communicating the results to chemists and peers.

The role will occasionally involve the use of analytical instruments such a gas chromatograph, data loggers, and others.

The role will also require general housekeeping tasks in the assigned areas of responsibility, including packaging and disposing of small quantities of waste per RCRA regulations.

The job role requires knowledge of chemistry and chromatography, troubleshooting ability, keeping up with appropriate documentation of experiments, attention to detail, and participating in safety related programs such as safety checks and proper PPE.

Past experience with mechanical troubleshooting and assembly of tubing fittings is preferred, but not required.

The candidate would need to have a can-do attitude compatible with high safety standards.

Generally the working schedule will be 40 hrs per week Mon-Fri consistent with the chemist that the technician will be supporting.
