**Job Description:**

+ Supports the processes involved in releasing raw materials to manufacturing. Performs sampling and testing on standard raw materials (primarily packaging) ensuring conformance to company requirements. Performs routine analysis (primarily visual and manual) for special test requests to provide continuous improvement in the areas of quality, technology and processes.

+ Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.

+ Performs sampling and visual/physical property testing to release raw materials to manufacturing. Testing to include, but not limited to: visual inspection, FTIR, UV/Vis, viscosity, KF, pH, HPLC, GC, and DSC. (70%)

+ Documents and prepares labeling related to results of sampling and testing of raw materials. Prepares documentation i.e., MARS, labels, log books, and maintains control numbers. (10%)

+ Assigns control numbers and logs in samples for incoming material. Knowledge of LabWare LIMS is useful. (10%)

+ Interfaces with suppliers to ensure that the proper documentation is received for incoming raw materials (i.e., certificates if compliance or certificate of analysis). (5%)

+ Performs other related duties as assigned by management. Maintains clean work area. Supports lab in housekeeping, environmental, and safety initiatives. (5%)


+ Minimum education required for competent performance:

+ BS in chemistry or other science discipline.

+ Minimum experience (number of month/years and type of work experience beyond formal education) required for competent performance:

+ 1-3 years Chemistry or related field and/or work experience in a laboratory with a BS in chemistry or other science discipline. Ability to pay special attention to detail with degree of accuracy. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Must be familiar with GMP, GLP, SOP and ISO.

+ Volume or unit measure of job duties:

+ 7 -10 raw material lots sampled and inspected per day. Volume will depend on workload and assignments.

+ Company Software as required and others.

+ Laboratory Analytical Instrumentation such as analytical balance, pipettes, UV/Vis, FTIR, pH, Labware LIMS. Must be able to distinguish colors for visual inspection of raw materials.

+ Full day on Saturday and Sunday coverage would be preferred.

+ The schedule can otherwise be flexible with a start time between 7 and 8:30 am preferred.

+ The schedule can be four 10 hour shifts per week or five 8 hour shifts per week.
