**Description:**


As a Scientist, you will join a cross-functional research team whose goal is to design and develop next-generation targeted delivery systems comprising both small- and large-molecule payloads. We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated and creative scientist with experience in applying the principles and techniques of chemistry to potential inventions, products, and problems. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who has outstanding written and oral communication skills, enjoys scientific discovery, and has the ability to communicate and collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment.


Reporting to the Senior Director, Research & Development, primary responsibilities of this position will include:


+ Conducting scientific research for the development of new therapeutics or the research support of clinical candidates, particularly polymer-drug conjugates

+ Applying principles, techniques, and strategies of chemistry to design custom syntheses, produce and/or characterize novel therapeutic compounds, and advance the development of economical and scalable processes for technical transfer to external Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO)

+ Independently planning, executing, and analyzing experiments to generate drug candidates for evaluation and advance scientific knowledge

+ Thinking critically and creatively to generate ideas and executing those ideas to positively impact project goals

+ Serving as technical area expert with notable depth and breadth, maintaining a high level of expertise through familiarity with relevant scientific and technical literature

+ Collaborating with colleagues in Biology and Manufacturing & Process Development, providing expertise in chemistry to suggest experimental design and research strategy

+ Analyzing results, preparing technical presentations and reports, and presenting to cross-functional teams and senior management


Recommended Experience and Skills:


+ Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with 0-3 years relevant industry experience

+ B.S. or M.S. degree with extensive industry experience (5-8 years exp)

+ Expertise in organic chemistry with an emphasis on synthetic methodology, total synthesis, and/or process chemistry

+ Strong synthetic skills and a solid knowledge of modern organic synthesis techniques, with preference for those with hands-on experience with small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and polymers as well

+ Air-free chemistry techniques (pressurized lines, gas lines) is strongly desired

+ Working knowledge of analytical techniques for characterization of compounds ( _e.g._ , HPLC, NMR, and LC-MS)

+ Small molecule drug experience

+ ADC experience is desired

+ Designing synthesis pathways and making products

+ Preference for those with experience developing therapeutic candidates in the biopharmaceutical industry and familiarity with aspects of drug development, including formulation sciences, ADME, toxicology and regulatory

+ Strong communication skills, good problem-solving abilities, and an ability to work effectively and inclusively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of colleagues
