**Position Summary**

The Supervisor, Chemistry is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by supervising a group of analysts for compendia, material and drug product testing in a cGMP environment. This results-oriented leader develops resource plans that achieve revenue goals with regards to safety, quality, output and cost. The Supervisor, Chemistry conducts investigations for OOS results, errors and deviations. The position requires regular communication with customers in a timely and professional manner. The Supervisor, Chemistry is accountable for proper staff training and that deliverables are met or expectations are proactively managed towards alternative solutions.

**Essential Functions**

+ Manages analysts across cross-functional chemistry groups (wet chemistry, GC, HPLC, and AA).

+ Monitors and manage sample due dates to ensure turn-around times are met for customers.

+ Perform and write investigations and deviations.

+ Communicates sample status between departments and with customers.

+ Schedules, reviews, monitors and approves repairs and installation of laboratory equipment.

+ Works with Technical Specialist to review, approve and monitor projects (verifications, validations, method transfers) through the full lifecycle.

+ Authors, revises and approves SOPs, training procedures, lab notes and method modifications.

+ Interacts positively with all departments in order to accomplish goals and meet deadlines.

+ Participates in process improvement plans.

+ Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

+ Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management.

**Education and Experience**

+ Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in chromatography (HPLC and GC) techniques required. Masters degree preferred.

+ 3+ years of cGMP laboratory experience required, preferably CDMO or pharmaceuticals.

+ Prior chromatography method development and validation, method verification and method transfer, HPLC or GC experience preferred.

+ Previous supervisory experience preferred.

**Functional Competencies**

+ Knowledge of cGMP required.

+ Knowledge of compendia testing (USP, EP, JP, BP, FCC, ACS) required.

+ Knowledge of wet chemistry techniques and instrumentation (TOC, Polarimeter, Refractive Index, KF, cKF, FTIR) required.

+ Knowledge of chromatography method development and validation, method verification and method transfer, HPLC or GC preferred.

+ Knowledge of Chromeleon and Empower chromatography software preferred.

+ Knowledge of client management and ability to train others required.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

+ Results orientation with the ability to work independently and influence others.

+ Proficiency of basic computer skills and Microsoft office required.

+ Proficiency with electronic laboratory notebooks or similar platforms preferred.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**

+ Directly leads team of approximately 6-8 direct reports.

+ Indirectly leads team of approximately 4-6.

+ Participates in the hiring process of other employees.

+ Makes hiring decisions of other employees.

+ Schedules and reviews the work of other employees.

+ Ensures accuracy and relevance of assigned training curriculum.

+ Drives timely completion of training for employees to meet regulatory requirements.

+ Coaches, mentors and develops other employees.

+ Prepares and delivers performance evaluations of other employees.

+ Makes recommendation of disciplinary actions of other employees.
