Kelly Engineering Resources is searching for **3** **Civil Design Engineers** on behalf of our client, a privately held and growing Civil Engineering Firm with offices in North Dakota and Minnesota. As a key project team member, you will provide professional civil engineering services for clients by planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation and project management related to water resources, drinking water, wastewater, or transportation. You will work as a project engineer and the firms on-site representative on construction projects.



**Essential Responsibilities**


+ Civil design, project engineering, and field work on water, municipal, or transportation engineering projects from the planning phase through design and construction. This includes:

+ Specification development

+ Prepare proposals

+ Cost estimating

+ Equipment Selection

+ Civil layout

+ Water

+ Wastewater/sewer

+ Storm water

+ Site design

+ Participate in interviews from clients in order to secure work for the firm

+ More experienced candidates will have increasing responsibilities in business development, providing less experienced staff with directions and staff mentoring.

+ Independently and collaboratively contribute to the design and development of project plans, specifications while working with project team members.

+ Report to a Project Manager or Senior Engineer.

+ Communicate frequently and effectively with supervisors and project managers on a consistent basis by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects.

+ Provide direction and work with engineering technicians and other team members on the development of project plans and specifications.

+ Attend company meetings, project meetings and client meetings on a regular basis. securing work for the firm.

+ Understand and follow company CAD procedures.

+ Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.

+ Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail.

+ Project based travel including overnight trips

+ Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.

+ Additional responsibilities may include taking on the role of resident project representative (RPR) in the field during construction projects.


**Qualifications of the Successful Civil Design Engineer**


+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required to be considered an Engineer.

+ Candidates with 5+ years relevant design experience and without the appropriate degree, are encouraged to apply, however you will be considered a design technician.

+ Passing of FE exam, registered EIT or PE preferred.


+ Will consider any Civil Design Experience (Utility, transportation, telecom, water, base mapping, etc.)

+ Will consider any level of professional experience - Entry Level through Principal.

+ Proficiency in any of the following is required: AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation/GeoPak, Google SketchUP Pro, ARCMAP GIS or other Civil design software

+ Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is a hard requirement.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

+ Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

+ Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs.

+ Required personal attributes - Self-starter, possesses the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls.

+ A valid drivers license is required or the ability to obtain one.

+ Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.

+ Preparing civil design drawings, specifications and preparing cost estimate

+ Underground utility design


**Physical Requirements:**


+ Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.

+ Ability to work in an outdoors environment during construction season.

+ May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with construction observation and surveying.

+ Required to lift objects or containers weighing 50-lbs.

+ Must work scheduled hours in the office or onsite for projects.

+ Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines, or construction site during peak constructions season.


Full benefits package, additional monetary compensation on top of base salary for overtime.
