We are seeking an individual to work as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.


This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Serve as an associate investigator on protocols and obtain informed consent from patient, parent, and/or legal guardian

(2) Coordinate clinical admissions for research protocols, which includes contact with families and patients, initial discussions of the clinical protocol, arranging travel, scheduling and coordinating subspecialty appointments, coordinating admissions, data collection, and clinical and research samples, coordinating with patient/parent for release of pertinent medical records to the protocol team at National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)

(3) Interact with patients, parents, families, nursing staff, physician staff, social workers, clerical staff, laboratory staff, and other clinical center professionals

(4) Coordinate and maintain research records in accordance with NIH guidelines

(5) Review patient care orders for accuracy and contact the appropriate clinical fellow for any problems identified

(6) Review laboratory and clinical test results and report results to the attending physicians

(7) Participate in relevant clinical rounds

(8) Provide continuity of care to patients enrolled on assigned protocols

(9) Serve as a resource to patients and families enrolled in research protocols; facilitate communication with referring physician/health care provider

(10) Communicate with the IRB annual reviews of the protocol; assist principal investigators on all matters that relate to communications with the IRB and the Office of the Clinical Director


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor ideally would have:

(1) Master's or Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related discipline.

(2) Minimum of four (4) years of experience that includes the clinical research process, importance of adherence to protocols, and accuracy needed to collect and document research data.

(3) Ability to work on-site with complex patients who participate in research protocols.
