We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to work at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

**TASKS/SERVICES** . The contractor shall:

+ Organize and oversee a structured approach to setting up the recording system in the patients room so that neurophysiological data is in the appropriate format and is of sufficient quality for subsequent processing.

+ Maintain and improve the existing data pipeline for processing and storing neurophysiological data.

+ Oversee neurophysiological recordings, including recording set up, troubleshooting issues related to the recording, maintenance of the recording quality and electronic transfer of the recordings to a central server and database.

+ Lead the development and/or improvement of software infrastructure for capturing, sorting and organizing neural activity from individual neurons (action potentials) recorded using implanted microelectrode arrays.

+ Lead the development and/or improvement of software infrastructure for providing direct electrical stimulation of the human brain using a commercially available stimulation device.

+ Lead the development and/or improvement of software infrastructure for immersive virtual reality games for memory testing in patients.

+ Lead the development and/or improvement of software infrastructure for acquiring neurophysiological data in real-time to provide closed-loop control of stimulation and/or the games used tin memory testing.

+ Work with research Unit team members to implement new neurophysiological recording and analysis protocols and procedures.

**REQUIREMENTS** . The contractor must have:

+ Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience with software development.

+ Fluency in software development, including Python and C++.

+ Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
