JOB TITLE: CMM/ Quality Technician

SUPERVISION: Reports to Quality Manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires normal vision and hearing range. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones, printers and copiers.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma/ GED

CMM operator and programming required.

Minimum of 4 years working with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, check fixtures and etc.

Understanding and interpretation of Blueprints.

SKILLS/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Computer literate

Good written and verbal communications

Good analytical skills

Good organizational & problem solving skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Programs CMM (Manual and/or DCC) using CMM Manager Software.

- Inspects machined parts at inspection or machining station to ensure conformance to specifications.

- Read blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information, such as specified material, surface finish, dimensions, etc.

- Measures dimensions and features such as length, height, distance between reference points and surface finish using precision instruments to ensure product meets specifications.

- Locates reference point on part and measures dimensions, such as angle, arc, and radii, using combinations of aids, such as surface plates, parallel bars, angle plates, gage blocks, V-blocks, sine bars, optical comparator, CMM or other precision measuring instruments.

- Reports out of tolerance findings to Operator/ Supervisor/ Quality Manager as appropriate.

- Inspects parts at all stages of manufacture, from receiving thru Final Inspection and completes all required documentation.

- Performs First Article inspections and completes all associated documentation.

- Creates/ edits Inspection Instructions for use by Production personnel.

- May assist with gage calibration activities.

- May assist with disposition of non-conforming product activities.

- May set up and try out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy.

- May substitute known values, such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solve for unknown quantities, using knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, or geometry to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.

- May use statistical process control techniques.

- Assists Quality Manager with PPAP activities.

- Adheres to all safety regulations.

- Supports internal auditing system.

- Performs all other tasks as assigned.
