Through our partnership with the National Institutes of Health, Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with the leading medical research center in the world. We are seeking an individual to work as a Communications and Marketing Specialist at the National Institutes of Health in Research Triangle Park, NC.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Provide general content writing support for _Environmental Health Perspectives_ journal communications activities in accordance with journal style, environmental health science standards, journal publishing standards, and government requirements. This may include writing website announcements, messaging for social media campaigns, written content for external newsletters, and original search engine optimization (SEO)-driven site content.

(2) Work with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify project and initiative goals and obtain the information needed to write grammatically and factually correct content.

(3) Coordinate integrated campaigns that include long form content, social media, and related social media graphics.

(4) Support Communications Managers with real-time social media reporting that can be used to adjust or extend live campaigns and for overarching monthly reports.

(5) Fact check, edit, conduct keyword research, and proofread previously written copy for the web and social media.

(6) Work with News Program Assistants to schedule social media campaigns into overall social media calendar.

(7) Conduct market and topical research and be aware of journal competitors and publishing industry developments.

(8) Collaborate with News Editors and Communications Managers to create branded, professional graphical assets for social media and the homepage carousel with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.

(9) Ensure graphics align with and complement written materials in a marketing campaign.

(10) Route written materials and graphic design mockups through Jira tracking system for feedback and approval.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor ideally would have:

(1) Masters degree in a related field. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Masters degree.

(2) Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a related field including knowledge of scientific/scholarly publishing marketing and/or advertising preferred.

(3) Two (2) years of experience working on a marketing team with steadily increasing writing responsibilities.

(4) Strong copywriting, copyediting, research, and proofreading skills.

(5) Skilled at translating scientific or technical content into content that can be read and easily understood by general audiences; interest in environmental health science or environmental impacts human health preferred

(6) Ability to work comfortably with Ph.D.-level authors and readers and have a basic scientific understanding of concepts as presented.

(7) Experience with multiple social media and research sharing platforms

(8) Experience creating graphics for social media and websites

(9) Familiarity with branding and basic graphic design principles

(10) Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and proficiency with Google Analytics.

(11) Excellent verbal and written communication skills including familiarity with health and medical terms
