**Contract Safety Specialist - Port Arthur, Texas (77643)**



+ Pay: $40 an hour

+ Part time at 32 with the potential of 40hrs a week (must have the ability to work full-time if advised)





The Contract Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the site in an effective, safe and environmentally acceptable operation. The position will provide support for Occupational Safety / Industrial Hygiene (OSIH), Process Safety, and Emergency Response through corporate and regulatory requirements. This role will assist the site in recognizing and reducing hazards at the Port Arthur site.





**Duties Include:**



+ Support and improve EHS programs with focus on Occupational Safety / Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response and Process Safety to ensure compliance with applicable Health and Safety Law, Policy, and Responsible Care by thoroughly understanding the requirements and issues.

+ Advise site management of compliance concerns and provide strategic guidance on EHS matters to the site leadership teams.

+ Review, coordinate, and implement changes as needed to site safety procedures and policies based on changes to regulatory requirements, corporate audit results, corrective actions, and EHS alerts & advisories.

+ Coordinate and conduct exposure monitoring in accordance with the Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Plan, including recordkeeping, results interpretation, and recommendations for controls and communication.

+ Complete applicable internal and external EHS reporting to ensure compliance with BASF and regulatory requirements.

+ Participate in incident investigations to ensure root causes are identified and appropriate corrective actions are created and implemented.

+ Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.

+ Support EHS training needs for new and existing employees.





**Qualifications:**



1. Bachelors degree required, preferably in Safety Engineering, Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or a related discipline.

2. Minimum of three years of experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility is required.

3. Experience in a safety-related role in a petrochemical manufacturing facility is required.

4. A thorough understanding in applicable EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and similar regulations.

5. Strong computer skills and abilities (Microsoft office suite) is required.

6. Ability to develop and deliver classroom / field training in a petrochemical setting.

7. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.

8. Data analysis capability while using different programs and databases.

9. Interpersonal skills required to interact with business partners and outside vendors to accomplish the business objectives of the organization.

10. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work. Ability to manage multiple tasks and dynamic projects and/or issues.
