Job Summary

The cost accountant is a key player in the cost accounting department that plans and directs accounting actvities within the finance dept. The ideal candidate is a detailed and results oriented individual that welcomes challenges, and displays a solid understanding of cost analysis, future costs and revenues. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies and procedures relating to financial accounting, budgets, projects and contract accounting. the ideal candidate will bring 3-5 yrs experience within a manufacturing space. **Key Responsibilities:**


+ Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
+ Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues as well as project review slide decks.
+ Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses.
+ Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification
+ Plans audits and coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
+ Assists in establishing system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
+ Supervises and assists with preparation of various financial statements, analysis and various internal and external reports.
+ Provides management with timely reviews of organization’s financial status and progress in various programs and activities.
+ Month-end close: prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
+ Supervises and assists in preparation of reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
+ Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
+ Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, and customers.
**Job Specifications**

**Education** : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation
**Years Experience** : 4-5 years of relevant experience
**Skills**


+ Must be detail oriented.
+ Ability to work independently under limited supervision
+ Ability to analyze and communicate results in a timely manner
+ MAS500 experience a plus, but not a requirement
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) environment.
+ Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explains complex information to others in straightforward situations; excellent interpersonal skills to drive task to completion
**Computer Skills:**


+ Spreadsheets, Accounting software (MAS 500 a plus), General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, E-mail, Manufacturing software
**Supervisory:**


+ Supervises non-supervisory employees in Accounts Payable, Receivable, and General Accounting, areas of finance. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
**Reasoning Ability:**
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
