6 months contract to hire


Position Description:

This position is in the clinical proteomics laboratory to provide COVID-19 testing, with the possibility of pivoting to proteomic research. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will work somewhat independently to conduct high complexity COVID-19 testing using established protocols and procedures, and in some cases, design new protocols. The incumbent will use professional knowledge and judgment to perform technical, analytical, clerical, and quality assurance functions.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include COVID-19 diagnostic testing, equipment validation/calibration, reagent and QC preparation, quality control, specimen processing, routine maintenance, and review of test results, commensurate with a BA/BS level. Specific tasks include qRT-PCR, ELISA, specimen processing, data analysis, training new employees, troubleshooting, and quality improvement activities. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will also communicate daily operational issues with lab staff, managers, consultants, laboratory director, and medical director.


Considering the nature of COVID-19 diagnostic testing, the position requires an individual who has demonstrated proficiency in laboratory diagnostic testing. Applicants must have the ability to perform high-complexity laboratory testing, including qRT-PCR and manual pipetting.


Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certification (ASCP or equivalent) is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a regulated laboratory. The selected candidates will work in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment.


Required Qualifications:

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

*Completion of a BA/BS in biochemistry, biological science, or related field prior to the start date in the position;

* A minimum of 1 year laboratory experience;

* Experience using qRT-PCR;

* Proficiency in data analysis using Excel or spreadsheet applications;

* Proficiency in the use of personal computer, word-processing applications;

* Excellent communication skills in oral and written English.


Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with robotic liquid handling

* Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems
