Crew Leader, Saginaw, MI ($11+/hr, Now - October)

Kelly Services is currently looking for a Crew Leader for a local pickle factory.

There is a need for one 1st shift role, and one 2nd shift role.

The qualified candidate will NEED to be able to work up to 20 hours of OVERTIME each week during the PEAK season (July - October). This could include 10-12 hour shifts, plus weekends


+ Monitor the sorting area of the grading line.

+ Make sure there is proper coverage on all sorting belts

+ Adjust the sorting belt speeds as necessary.

+ Move employees as needed to get the best sort.

+ Train, evaluate and monitor the sorters.

+ Cover bathroom breaks for sorters as deemed necessary.

+ Make sure no glass, jewelry, or food is on the grading line.

+ Make sure walkway around chains is clear.

+ Monitor any safety or GMP issues.

+ Communicate with the Quality Control person to verify sorting quality.

+ Evaluate the after-sort sampling results and size checks. If samples or checks are out of specs, make the necessary adjustments and then recheck. Notify the supervisor.

+ Sign the completed After Sort Sampling Form.

+ Monitor the chains for jams or chains off of the rail. Report any problems to the supervisor or maintenance.

+ Assist production by dumping the red trash buckets down the trash shoot for the sorters.

+ Keep track of break times and execute break procedures. (sounding of the horn, adjusting belt speeds, and monitoring the two minute warning policy, etc.)

+ If time permits, help the sorters sort the incoming load.

+ Assist the Bottom crew leader when necessary.

+ Set up a cleanup crew and post.

+ Record end time and check people out at the end of the shift.

+ Oversee the cleanup crew in zones one and two.


+ Monitor all machinery throughout your shift.

+ Guide all trucks in and out of the pit area

+ Receive the drivers load information.

+ Ensure the load information is entered into Plex.

+ Monitor the Scaling / Plex inventory process very closely to ensure complete 100% accuracy.

+ Execute the truck change over procedure effectively each time it is necessary.

+ Monitor the product going into the pit, watching for large foreign debris.

+ Make sure the pit is full to the appropriate capacity and product is flowing correctly.

+ Monitor the color sorter effectiveness throughout the load.

+ Evaluate the pre-sort and after sort sampling process and results. If the sample is out of specs, report it to the supervisor.

+ Monitor the inspections of the Quality Control person.

+ Also make sure the Quality Control person is assisting the Scaler in attaching the stickers to the gons after they are weighed.

+ Keep the employee outside break area clean. (Tables, floor, trash bin, etc.) This should be checked every hour.

+ After each truck, make sure that all necessary paperwork is turned in to the office or other designated area. ( truck card, sample forms) Make sure they are labeled correctly.

+ Monitor production speeds (Clean loads with good product can be ran faster than loads that are nubby, diseased, etc.)

+ Accurately fill out the downtime tracking sheet as necessary throughout the shift.

+ Oversee cleanup crew in Zones two and three.



+ High School Diploma or equivalent


+ Must wear Steel Toe Shoes or Boots while working
