**Customer Quality Engineer**





Kelly Services is working with a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer that is searching for a **Quality Engineer that will focus on Customer Quality** . In this role, you will be hands on in plant quality and will advocate and represent the Customer with regards to internal quality issues and external problem solving. This is **direct hire** role with a manufacturer of exhaust systems. You will:




+ Work with customer locations, remote and on-site, to understand how products are used by the customer in assembly operations and to have a firm grasp on quality requirements.

+ Pro-actively ensure plant quality meets customer requirements

+ Resolve and drive customer quality issues



**Essential Responsibilities of the Customer Quality Engineer:**




+ Reduce and prevent defects from reaching the customer using AIAG & TS/IATF 16949 guidelines

+ Audit plant floor & weld cells for issues as well as defect risks

+ Review work instructions & work with Manufacturing in relation to: in- process inspections, 1st off checks and end of line inspections.

+ Review gauge instructions to assure accuracy and perform Gauge R&R studies

+ Create and update gauge instructions, train as needed Gage Control.

+ Support Metrology Lab by conducting CMM Programming & Layout.

+ Schedule and assure proper layouts (CMM) of parts for PPAP, Customer and supplier, review and update as needed.

+ Coordinate product certification via PPAP with the Customer

+ Track, Document, analyze customer issues and returns.

+ Root cause analysis and data driven decision making

+ Implement short & long-term CA/PAs

+ Train/Coach/Mentor associates, engineers and management in core quality tools including the 8 Quality Basics, problem solving methodology.

+ Execute all tasks in compliance with local, state and federal laws, company policies, TS/IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 standards.



**Qualifications of the Successful Customer Quality Engineer:**




+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality, Mathematics, Physics or related is required.

+ 3-5 years minimum experience in automotive quality TS/IATF 16949 environment that includes work experience with GD&T, CMM Programming, Tier 1 product launch, gage control, supervision/mentoring of inspection/Quality staff

+ Working knowledge of 8D problem solving, Six Sigma tools, Continuous Improvement

+ Training/experience in PPAP, APQP (Control plans/FMEA), SPC, Audits is highly desired.

+ Record of a data driven approach to problem solving and resolution.

+ Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), any ERP system (SAP will be used), data report software

+ Organized, can plan, prioritize, schedule and manage multiple projects/ QA issues

+ Interpersonal skills including, excellent written & verbal communication skills, customer service skills, confidentiality, presentation skills, self-motivation and responsiveness

+ Work at a desk, work in a plant environment, hold/carry, manipulate product that can weigh up to 20 lbs.
