**Customer Quality Engineer Livonia, MI**





Our client in the greater Detroit metro area, a well-known manufacturer of automotive parts, is currently seeking a full-time, direct hire Customer Quality Engineer for an on-site role at an important customer location in Livonia, MI. In this role, the Customer Quality Engineer will be the primary and direct contact with customer Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering personnel who are affected and involved with the use of our clients products and services. This person must constantly monitor all phases of the customer operation for early detection and correction of any problems real or perceived. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:**




+ Analyze quality of product incoming, in process, and finished at the customer plant in order to provide a continuous feedback to the foundry and allow preventative containment of any customer complaint, current or potential.

+ Reports to the foundry Quality Engineer with data concerning the customer plant production and reject information with all pertinent information in the proper format.

+ Formally accept or dispute rejected products before they are returned and billed to the foundry, through specific procedures approved by the customer.

+ Work with the supplier on 8D through proven problem-solving techniques.

+ Review PPAP packages and provide approval for the plant.

+ Report to the customer in cases of urgent needs, organizing containment of defective parts, if necessary through the supervision of the foundry or contract personnel; initiate problem-solving documentation if required, following up in the process of defining and implementing corrective actions also by traveling to the foundry.

+ Train foundry or contract personnel on inspection of the part and on the customer plant processes.

+ Support formal meetings with the customer with or without the foundry personnel. Represent the foundry with the appropriate decision-making limits, reporting to the foundry about the outcome.

+ Negotiate with the customer to minimize the impact of any customer complaints and generate good will. Carry out duties of Customer Quality Engineer representing our client and serving the customer needs in a professional manner.





**JOB REQUIREMENTS:**




+ **Bachelor's** **Degree** **in** **Engineering** is strongly preferred (Associates degree is minimum requirement)

+ **3+** **years** **of** **Quality** **Assurance** experience in the **automotive** **industry** (preferably dealing with castings or machined parts)

+ Knowledge of **APQP** **process** , **problem-solving** **tools** like **8D** , exp. with the review of **PPAPs** , exp.

+ Exp. leading or supporting meetings with customer / on-site personnel

+ Automotive Engineering knowledge and experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

+ **Excellent soft skills & communication ability** are required for this role, as this individual will be communicating and interfacing extensively with the customer, acting as a liaison between manufacturing plant & customer regarding all Quality Assurance matters. A successful candidate will have strengths in communicating between all levels of the organization, from shop-floor personnel to Program Management & customer leadership on-site.
