Kelly Services is hiring a Database Administrator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be able to perform database restoration as well as research and implement new systems. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential. Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications. Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL. Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding. Previous experience with DBA case tools (front-end/back-end) and third-party tools. Familiarity with programming languages, API development, etc. DoD Information Assurance experience is a plus specifically in the areas of IAVA and STIG evaluation, application, and management as it applies to database servers.

GENERAL DUTIES: Initiates, develops, coordinates, tests, validates and implements database management projects including file consolidation, storage media selection and related data migration, conversion from batch sequential processing to interactive random processing and other projects required to implement modern database management. Plans, designs, develops, implements and maintains the E-OMS data repository system providing automated support for data related activities. Develops proposals, prepares written impact papers, work plans, studies and reports associated with database integration projects in order to achieve improvements in efficiency, cost and levels of service. Attends meetings with applications personnel to provide advice on systems software capabilities and limitations. Develops recommendations concerning long range database management systems plans to management. Assists in developing overall systems software design and programming techniques for use by systems and application programmers; and has responsibility for developing and maintaining guidance for use of the data repository system. Performs studies or analysis on factors such as amount of storage space consumed and needed, access time statistics, frequencies of reads and writes, and unusual problems encountered by applications programmers. Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user-s specialized role. Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses. Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users. Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards. Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BS Degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification. Comp TIA Security+ certification and demonstrated experience and knowledge of database administration and development practices. Four or more years of database administration experience including Microsoft SQL Server, and Team Foundation Server. Experience in Cold Fusion is desired.
