Description Kelly Services is currently seeking a **Mechanical Design Engineer** for a contract role in Hillsboro, OR.

As a **Mechanical Design Engineer** placed with Kelly Services you will be part of the Mechanical and Thermal Engineering Group (MTEG), which is the design center of excellence for all mechanical (sockets, chip debug hardware, chassis, lab robotics, automation equipment etc.) and thermal (passive heatsinks, active heatsinks, thermal margining tools, thermal controllers, system thermal solutions) for all Validation and Manufacturing of nearly every silicon product (laptops, notebooks, tablets, phones, work stations, servers, super computers, wearables, drones etc..).

You will be exposed to a variety of design and analysis opportunities in both Thermal and Mechanical engineering across multiple business segments.

In addition, you will have opportunities to work with external customers (OEMs and ODMs) on a regular basis.

MTEG is a group of 50-60 Mechanical and Thermal Design Engineers, and you will have opportunities for networking, growth and skill advancement.

**Additional Responsibilities Include:**

• Participating in MTEG scrum teams to during work planning sessions.

• Interfacing with the board design engineering teams and internal customers in documenting product requirements.

• Developing interconnect mechanical and thermal design concepts using CAD and Thermal Design software tools, and getting approval from the teams.

• Interfacing with the external suppliers (Taiwan, China, US) to finalize the design.

• Conducting static stress finite-element analysis of the mechanical system to ensure reliable interconnection.

• Creating detailed production drawings

• Evaluating and testing of the prototypes and qualifying the mechanical and thermal hardware for the production build

• Working with customers to get their feedback and set clear expectations of the products

**Job Requirements:**

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of thermal/mechanical components and systems, OR Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience design of thermal/mechanical components and systems

• 5+years of experience in using Pro/E Creo 2.0 or Wild Fire 5.0 (Modeling, Assembly, Detailing, Sheet Metal, Mechanica) or Solidworks

• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis

• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Knowledge of PDM tools such as Windchill or Intralink

• 5years of experience in using basic Microsoft office tools

* **Experience working as a mechanical engineer in the electronics industry and collaborating with board design teams**

***Ability to work independently with limited supervision**

***Solid grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals Proficient with MS office, Outlook HS diploma or GED equivalent required for US candidates.**

**Preferred Qualifications**

• Knowledge and experience in component and platform/system thermals

• Knowledge and experience in designing sheet-metal and plastic parts.

• Knowledge and experience in thermal margining tools and controls

• Knowledge and experience in other manufacturing processes

• Experience in ECAD/MCAD management

• Experience in FEA tools and GD&T implantation
