Exciting Direct Hire Welding openings on 2nd and 3rd shift in Janesville!!!!! Great pay, and offers weekly paychecks.

SUMMARY:

This position welds fabricated components, per custom or stock specifications, for sale to customers in conjunction with customer quality requirements and United Alloy manufacturing philosophies. Monitoring welding performance and efficiency are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- The individual must have an exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes.

- 1 year of prior welding experience is required or a 1 year welding degree.

- Must pass a UAI AWS D1.1 welding test.

- The individual must possess a keen sense of attention to detail.

- Must possess the ability to operate overhead cranes, tape measure and calipers, basic hand tools and air tools.

- Must be able to determine material types and gages.

- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds with an assist.

- Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

- Must perform all duties in conjunction with UAI and ISO requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Level C -

- Follows safe manufacturing and material handling practices.

- Can follow written and verbal details to complete assignments or jobs.

- Understands and adheres to UAI 5S manufacturing practices.

- Understands and adheres to UAI employee handbook policies.

- Can record time accurately including -time and attendance- and -labor reporting- using the data collection system.

- Can accurately count and record production activity.

- Can use a ruler, tape measure, or caliper to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances.

- Can compute decimal equivalents.

- Can interchange fractions.

- Can compute, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, of fractions and decimals.

- Welds product using fixturing with minimal supervision.

- Utilizes hand tools, fixtures, and clamps for small welding applications.

- Can interpret basic elements of a blueprint, including welding symbols.

- Can identify types of joints and welds.

- Can set up and maintain welding machines including changing wire, changing gas, and operating the oxy fuel equipment.

- Can successfully perform a tank leak test.

- Maintains inspection equipment according to SOP-0006 Calibration Systems.

- Understands cross check concepts and inspects product according to Inspection Control Plan.

- Accurately tags material and product according to WI-0002 Product Identification.

- Understands nonconforming process and how to identify material with a red tag according to SOP-0003.

- Can maintain 90% efficiency level at the end of 90 days.

- Follows all safety policies and standards.

- Able to work well in a team based environment ensuring quality and effectiveness.

- Has the authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected.

- Understands and demonstrates the 6 core behavioral expectations: Communicative, Motivated, Responsible, Dependable, Inquisitive and Accountability.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Level B -

- Qualified to weld in other welding areas.

- Able to successfully weld 1st articles in Tank weld.

- Welds product via blueprints with minimal supervision.

- Can maintain greater than a 95% utilization level.

- Can maintain a high degree of quality, and generate less than 2% scrap.

- Can train entry level welders in Trunion and Retail up to Level B.

- Can make minor repairs to equipment and support equipment.

- Ensures weld fixture calibration.

- Adheres to aesthetic welding standards.

- Offers continuous improvement ideas on a regular basis.

Level A -

- Qualified to successfully weld in all Weld functions: Trunion Weld, Tank Weld, Skid Weld, and Custom Weld (including 1st article) areas.

- Can maintain greater than 100% efficiency level.

- Must successfully complete 40 hours of work in each Weld area per year in order to retain Level A status.

- Welds all product, including tanks, without supervision.

- Can monitor and maintain welding consumable and supply stock.

- Can conduct training on all welding related positions up to Level A.

- Has the ability to perform problem solving and troubleshooting.

- Able to analyze, understand, and delegate priorities from the Foreman-s Report to the welding staff to ensure timely movement of product.

- Exhibits moderate leadership to welding and assembly staff.

- Has successfully completed welding certification training.

- Has completed first aid training, as needed.

- Completes accurate and timely system transactions.

- ISO Internal Auditor, as needed.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
