Here at WCG IRB, we are seeking a Director of Continuous Improvement to join our team. As a Director of Continuous Improvement, you will largely be focusing on developing the road map for implementation of key process improvement initiatives for Operations. In partnership with Operations, you will focus on ensuring LEAN practices, metrics and technology solutions are incorporated into Operations work practices and systems. You will facilitate and educate others to address process improvements and implement creative, relevant, and impactful solutions that may include, but are not limited to board operations, operations workflows, and specific client initiatives.


  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree, MBA or higher is preferred


  • Process Improvement Black Belt required
  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP) preferred


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in continuous improvement preferably in clinical research setting with evidence of increasing responsibility.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with VISIO, Microsoft Project or other project management software is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required such as a focus on problem solving, listening objectively and openly to others ideas, and contributing to building positive team spirit.
  • Ability to engage and motivate staff is required.
  • Meeting deadlines, working in stressful situations, and working independently is required.
  • Possess excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in helping to drive change, especially around efficiency and effectiveness measures.
  • Comfortable in understanding and utilization of complex technical e-document/ software and service offerings; able to challenge current thinking and gain credibility with internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Work with senior leaders to determine strategic business priorities. Based on organizational priorities propose continuous improvement framework and plans (structure, resources and time allocation) for each requested facilitation of continuous improvement.
  • Provide analysis of data, feedback, business processes, etc. to assess efficacy of improvements we have made and identify where improvements are needed.
  • Gather information by using different techniques (interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, facilitated sessions, shadowing, etc.).
  • Lead team to execute and implement key initiatives which support the successful achievement of division metrics.
  • In partnership with Operations, determine performance metrics such as a reduction in turnaround time, assess work processes, and determine where improvements can be made and how to achieve them.
  • Assess new technology that can assist with streamlining processes and create greater operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate and manage external consultants to achieve desired results.
  • Lead, motivate and manage team in office setting and remotely.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
