**Our clients Health Professions Division is seeking a Director/Instructor of the Respiratory Care Program.**





**Summary**



The Director/Instructor of Respiratory Care Program will be responsible for the total administration of the Respiratory Care Program, as its Program Director. This individual is responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, continued development, and effectiveness of the educational program. In this activity, the Program Director will cooperate fully with the Medical Director for the program, the Advisory Committee for the program, and with the Clinical Director of Respiratory Care.





**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**




+ Conduct systematic needs assessments periodically for respiratory care positions in the Berks-Schuylkill and Lehigh County area.

+ Participate in activities for marketing the program and recruitment of students into the respiratory care curriculum, including efforts in local high schools.

+ Develop and maintain an innovative curriculum in respiratory care that meets the standards for accreditation by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

+ Submit CoArc Annual Report and other reports as needed by the college or accrediting agency.

+ Establish and maintain an Advisory Committee for the program. Solicit input from the members for the advancement of the program.

+ Provide leadership to faculty in the development and maintenance of courses to support the curriculum.

+ Teach respiratory care classes as required.

+ Advise students with program-related problems and academic and career planning.

+ Select students for the Respiratory Care Program.

+ Evaluate program, including but not limited to, evaluation of clinical affiliate rotations, evaluation of college laboratory and didactic experience, graduate follow-up, and employer evaluations.

+ Recruit and develop potential clinical sites or clinical instructors.

+ Preview and select appropriate text, media, and computer instruction programs for respiratory care.

+ Maintain laboratory instrumentation inventory and supplies.

+ Maintain program records and accreditation status.

+ Maintain and post office hours.

+ Supervise Clinical Director of Respiratory Care and all related adjuncts.

+ Identify and make recommendations on appropriate faculty and staff capable of insuring a successful program.

+ Continually monitor and evaluate the accomplishments of students, staff, and the Advisory Committee at the end of each academic year.

+ Identify and develop funding proposals for future use and maintain appropriate budgets of grant projects.

+ Develop and maintain budget for the program.

+ Keep abreast of developments in respiratory care, pulmonary resuscitation, and education necessary for continuing a model respiratory program.

+ Serve on other college committees and carry out special projects assigned by the Sr. Vice President of Academic Affairs /Provost.



**Supervisory Responsibilities**



Directly supervises a minimum of one employee in the Respiratory Therapy Program. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



**Education and/or Experience**




+ Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university (accredited by a regional accrediting agency) required, with a Master's Degree preferred.

+ At least four years full-time experience in respiratory therapy of which two years shall be experience on the faculty of an accredited respiratory program.



**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations**




+ Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

+ Must hold a current professional license as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
