**Director, Medical Information** **(contract/possible conversion to full time)**


The Director of Global Medical Information (Contractor) is accountable for the Global Medical Information product and therapeutic area support and medical information scientific content deliverables for healthcare professionals (HCPs) to ensure timely access of approved medical information content utilizing a globally accessible medical information platform. The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, prioritization, and execution of Global Medical Information-related scientific deliverables, including answering medical inquiries from HCPs, reviewing/providing scientific consult to Global Medical Affairs scientific material development.

The Director of Global Medical Information (Contractor) will accomplish this by partnering with Global Medical Affairs Leaders along with the regional/local Medical Affairs Managers to identify content and material needs. The Director of Global Medical Information will report to the Sr. Director, Communication of Global Medical Affairs.


+ Serve as a strategic partner on the Global Medical Affairs Team to develop and implement the Global Medical Information plan.

+ Effectively manage budget and resources (vendors and agencies) to meet short- and long-term objectives.

+ Collaborate with designated outsource providers to prioritize workload, discuss new data and manage issues; coordinate ongoing training, development and mentoring; coordinate on-boarding/training of new-hires.

+ Collaborate with Pharmacovigilance and Product Supply to guarantee smooth integration with PV and Product Complaint strategies.

+ Create system of triaging medical inquiries to Field Based Medical Teams when necessary.

+ Participate as a strategic partner with Global Medical Affairs colleagues to ensure identification of opportunities and drive appropriate integration of Medical Information resources.

+ Monitor the medical environment and apply scientific expertise, integrated with regulatory and compliance knowledge.

+ Identify, analyze, and/or report Medical and Scientific Insight/trends from Global Medical Information to Global Medical Affairs stakeholders.

+ Provide consult to the Global publications team on scientific publications.

+ Ensure awareness of upcoming key publications that will impact SRL database management plan.

+ Serve as a content expert for Global Medical Information (e.g. SRLs, FAQs, and Literature Searches).

+ Ensure incorporation of customer insight into core scientific materials.

+ Develop custom responses/literature search support for Medical Inquiries escalated to the Global MI team from local markets.

+ Participate on FAQs/SRL Task Force to keep global core scientific content up to date.

+ Lead Global Medical Information training initiatives to ensure training of all global MI staff and designated outsource providers.

+ Lead globalization of the Global Medical Information Platform (technology solutions); update and maintain GMI training materials


+ **Core compentencies, education, and experience.**

+ Minimum requirement: PhD or PharmD; MD preferred.

+ Minimum of 10-12 years previous pharmaceutical or related medical experience.

+ Demonstrated experience in drug information and knowledge of applicable regulations.

+ Demonstrated project management, organization and time management skills.

+ Highly developed literature search skills and experience in using literature searching tools.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

+ Demonstration of strategic thinking.

+ Understanding of the medical information needs for various customer segments and geographic regions.

+ Ability to think strategically and understand Global MI needs from Regional/local MCs.

+ Ability to identify the most efficient and effective way to implement new services.

+ Ability to translate scientific data to various audiences.

+ Proven project management capabilities and ability to coordinate and manage linkages within context of global projects.

+ Understanding of the Global Guidance for provision of Medical information.

+ Knowledge of IT needs for global project development and implementation.

+ Strong ability to effectively collaborate with various roles within the global organization.

+ Self-starter

+ Presentation, facilitation, and instructional skills.

+ Travel internationally as needed up; up to 25% of time. At times may be for extended periods and on short notice.
