**Job description:**

Responsible for leading a team of actuaries and technicians for managing the profitability of the book.

+ Reviews, evaluates and communicates assessment of quarterly rate level indications. Review product experience and profitability. Collaborate with Regional Product and Corporate Product departments on key findings and key selections.

+ Collaborate on Rate change proposals with Product & Field Operations partners. Ensure the use of sound pricing data and proper use of actuarial principles in rate change analyses.

+ Responsible for production and delivery of actuarial rate filing support and interacting with the Departments of Insurance to obtain filings approvals.

+ Constant improvement of indications model using advanced actuarial and analytical techniques. Directs the implementation of process improvements for automation to enhance speed and accuracy.

+ Act as liaison and point of contact for Actuarial Department in state expansion discussions with key business partners in the Field Operations group and other corporate departments.

+ Maintain and oversee process for intra-quarter monitoring of leading indicators of company financial health; provide actionable leading-edge analysis and insight to business operations and senior management.

**Leadership** : Influence and execute strategies, business models, and plans designed to optimize financial results.

+ Provides thought and/or technical leadership, including contributions to improvement, development and innovation, and often serves as a subject matter expert across the organization.

+ Build strong relationships internally and externally, collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams to ensure all objectives are aligned to the businesss overall objectives.

+ Lead, coach and develop team by using a framework that encourages employee high performance through goal setting, 360 feedback, and career development planning as well as performance management.

**Job requirements:**

**Education:** Successful completion of a minimum of 5 actuarial exams. Pursuing ACAS/ FCAS.

Minimum Bachelors degree, with preference in a quantitative analytical field such as Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Finance and Economics.


+ Minimum 7 or more years in relevant personal auto or Property/Casualty Insurance actuarial work experience

+ Minimum 3 or more years of supervisory/management experience

**Skills and Abilities** :

+ Proficient skill and knowledge of actuarial ratemaking principles, theories and techniques. Extensive experience at communicating actuarial concepts to multi-disciplinary groups, business partners and company stakeholders. Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance accounting and reporting.

+ Extensive product, price, risk management and insurance regulation knowledge, including familiarity with non-standard auto insurance.

+ Advanced skills in performing mathematical calculation; advanced computer skills, specifically in databases and spreadsheets, including SAS VBA/SQL. Familiarity in programming using R, Python or other comparable language. Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).

+ Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively plan and manage multiple projects and project work teams.

+ Proven ability to effectively lead, coach, and develop team, including assisting with career development planning to build a high performing team.
