**Director of Human Resources, Employee/Labor Relations**



Under the general supervision of the Executive Administrator, Human Resources, and requiring independent judgment, the Director of Human Resources serves as the Human Resources business partner for all facets of human resources for leadership and staff within two hospitals, Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital. This role partners closely with the HR Centers of Excellence to meet the needs of their role. Many of the areas of oversight include but is not limited to: development and administration of human resource policies, programs and practices, benefits, compensation, employee/labor relations, performance management, training, compliance, and safety for the Keck and Norris Hospitals within Keck Medicine of USC. The Director of Human Resources. provides leadership in key business and planning processes to support the growth and development of the organization as a dynamic, effective organization in line with the vision, values and strategic plan of Keck Medicine of USC.

The Director of Policy and Employee/Labor Relations (ER/LR) develops, directs, and oversees Keck Medicines HR policies, procedures, and programs and the work of the ER/LR team and is responsible for developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with Keck Medicines unions. He/She is responsible for creating and delivering the employee relations/labor relations strategy and activities. He/She develops and executes the plans needed to establish and maintain effective, efficient, and productive labor relations, administers grievance procedures including arbitrations, and assists executive and senior leaders with labor matters. He/She creates specific objectives for the function and develops budgets, policies, and procedures to support delivery.

**Minimum Education:**

Bachelor`s Degree Required. Master`s Degree Preferred

**Minimum Experience/Knowledge:**

Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated and progressive experience working as a Human Resources Director or related managerial experience managing large teams preferably within a hospital setting. Preferred background working in a Union environment, with labor negotiations, contract development and labor management. Strong ability to communicate in both written and verbal forms. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed team?oriented work environment. Healthcare experience STRONGLY preferred.

**Required License/Certification:**

Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
