**Job Title:** **Director of Laboratory Operations, Preanalytical**


**Overview:**


Today, with 18 Ph.D. scientists and toxicologists and over 300 highly trained laboratorians, our client provides leading diagnostics from its accredited 5,000-square-foot open-shell building, its 60,000-square-foot main clinical lab, and 20,000-square-foot forensic lab; all of these provide stable, modern environments with lean, high-tech operating labs and state-of-the-art research facilities. In this newly created role as a Director of Laboratory Operations you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the laboratory environment in the preanalytical phase of testing.


**Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) the following:**


+ This position has full responsibility for the operation of all pre-analytical automation, specimen management, batch-assembly, and load-leveling activities throughout the entire Company Labs network.

+ Work collaboratively with the Director of Laboratory Operations, Analytical and the Sr. VP of Operations to help develop people and capabilities, set standards for how work is done, and drive overall functional excellence.

+ Responsible for the tactical execution of strategic plans and initiatives, including long-range strategic plans.

+ Evaluates, monitors, and identifies areas for improvement regarding efficiency and productivity of all assigned laboratory sites and functions.

+ Oversees operational budgets to promote profitability and financial accountability in line with yearly operational goals.

+ Ensures adherence to Continuous Quality Improvement and Lean/Six Sigma philosophies to sustain and improve existing processes.

+ Develop, maintain, and communicate metrics on operational performance to peers, manager, and their own organization.

**Education/Experience Requirements/Competencies** **:**


+ Legally authorized to work in the job posting Country.

+ Bachelors or masters in clinical laboratory science, **OR** chemical, physical, **OR** biological science or Ph.D. in clinical laboratory science or chemical, physical, **OR** biological science **OR** B.S. + 10 years experience **OR** M.S. + 7 years experience, **OR** Ph.D. + 4 years experience.

+ Experience must be operational in a Bioanalytical Toxicology laboratory or clinical laboratory setting with at least 4 years of laboratory management required.

+ Demonstrated experience with the preanalytical phase of laboratory testing and preanalytical automation.

+ Demonstrated experience managing large groups, (50+ people), including direct/indirect reports.

+ Knowledge of the common acceptable procedures and practices in Clinical and Forensic Toxicology or Drug ID.
