**EHS Specialist** position available in Cary North Carolina with a pharmaceutical API manufacture


A customer with over fifty years of contract, research manufacturing


EHS Specialist will be responsible for sustaining environmental, health and safety support locally and corporate wide, influencing site and global EHS strategy


**Daily requirements;**


+ Implement the strategies in line with agreed values and culture across the organization, with policies, procedures, guidance and training to ensure both legal compliance and compliance to Company standards.

+ Serves as the liaison with United States, and local regulatory agencies

+ Leads the site Environmental Health and Safety programs Manages complex Environmental Health and Safety compliance and performance programs as they relate to the chemical/pharmaceutical industry including process safety, air permitting, employee exposure protection, and chemical waste management

+ Develops and implements strategies to ensure ongoing compliance and continuously drive Environmental Health and safety performance improvement

+ Coordinates accident, incident and CARE near miss form reporting along with CAPA management

+ Develops and delivers safety training to the site. Leads process safety audits and assessments

+ Leads and maintains Chemical Exposure Management and Industrial Hygiene programs for the site

+ Ensures adherence to personnel and equipment SOPs and other regulatory requirements

+ Formulates and implements policies that meet current and upcoming compliance and operational trends

+ Ability to lead investigations of incidents, near misses, safety hazard evaluations and risk assessments

+ Coordinates the implementation of the OSHA Process Safety Management PSM program

+ Provides guidance for Federal EPA, State and Local environmental regulations. Manages and completes permit compliance submittals, for example RCRA Bi-annual reporting

+ Ensures 90-day hazardous waste storage areas, satellite waste areas and waste labelling requirements are compliant

+ Working to enhance environmental sustainability for the site

+ Responds to emergency situations involving physical and chemical hazards

+ Effectively communicates with internal groups


**Education and Experience**

Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial hygiene or a related discipline with 3-5 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience in an API or chemical manufacturing and laboratory setting.
